i thought biden was still going to run

Where the bleedin’ hell are the armed militia? The Declaration of independence says that “when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”

Not sure if NATO were caught with their pants down, but the writings were on the wall back in 2014 I reckon, when the separatists “by accident” shot down a commercial flight, resulting in the death of 298 civilians.

Trump is now busy on “truth social”.
Jaw dropping stuff…even for Trump.

Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn’t be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the U.S. and “TRUMP,” will never be able to settle. The United States has spent $200 Billion Dollars more than Europe, and Europe’s money is guaranteed, while the United States will get nothing back. Why didn’t Sleepy Joe Biden demand Equalization, in that this War is far more important to Europe than it is to us — We have a big, beautiful Ocean as separation. On top of this, Zelenskyy admits that half of the money we sent him is “MISSING.” He refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden “like a fiddle.” A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left. In the meantime, we are successfully negotiating an end to the War with Russia, something all admit only “TRUMP,” and the Trump Administration, can do. Biden never tried, Europe has failed to bring Peace, and Zelenskyy probably wants to keep the “gravy train” going. I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died – And so it continues……

Still no statement from the headless chickens of Europe

Really?

Try looking at French, German, or Spanish language media to see what French, German, and Spanish politicians are saying.
I don’t know how many of them are reporting what Johnson is saying? I doubt it he will be in many of them… He is in too many here. already

I was just taking about leaders the main men or women

This thread is turning into an exlusive ‘Hatefest Club’ akin to how the Brexit thtead turned into a exclusive ‘Whingefest’ club.:joy:
So I’ll just lighten the mood a bit with this, give you guys some time to find some new ammunition.:joy:

I think a bit more than moderately successful as a comedian, unlike Trump who is a real class act, Billy Smart must be turning in his grave knowing what a clown he missed signing.

Oh, and btw, there have been no elections since before the war in Ukraine because they are fighting a war and even Britain had no elections between 1935 and 1945, because we were fighting a war, believe it or not.

The Ukrainian Parliament has voted to extend Zelensky’s time in office because he is running a war.

And in the member for Trumpton’s own country, the war leader, Roosevelt was re-elected because he was running a war but his Vice President was chosen with care because it was thought that Roosevelt’s health would not last him the term and they wanted to ensure the next best qualified, Truman, would take up the reins, which turned out to be justified.

Being a French speaker I also wondered if Franglais was being sardonic regarding Putin’s name or was it a consistent spelling mistake.

Yup, he’s a tricheur alright.

I’ll just put my bowl of Kellog’s Lentil Snaps to one side and munch into this fray.

Trump albeit because he’s kissing Putin’s backside, has revealed the west’s weakness.
The UK for one needs to double it’s expenditure on offence, I mean defence. We need at least 50% more bodies in the armed services (thank gawd I’m too old now…) because it’s true, we could hardly defend ourselves against a coachload of baguette waving French daytrippers (unless we took the wheels of their zimmers) let alone any serious invasion force.

While trump, and if heaven forbid any other of ilk get elected by King Elon 1st in the future, we simply cannot rely on even a get well card from the US in any bunfight we have with some belligerent.

All the western european countries need to beef up their armies so Putin thinks twice about invading Poland or whoever.

And that is more likely than not now, because I think Putin is blackmailing Trump over his stay in a certain Russian hotel with two way mirrors. Until Trump manages to destroy that incriminating video tape where his wig got wet, he’s going to say yes to whatever Putin says.

Did/Does Putain have a hold over Trump?
Maybe so, and maybe that had leverage in the past, but if true how relevant is that now?
Before Trump was elected for his first term, he said “I could go on the street, shoot someone and nothing would happen”. I reckon that now in his second term he is beyond any videos of anything.
All he has to do is say “fake news” and 2+2=4 is no longer true. His acolytes are beyond any proof, and there are many of them.
Not all Americans by any means. The US is a divided country.

Anyone who has never read 1984, or maybe not recently read it, I suggest trying it again.
O’Brien explaining to Winston Smith about 2+2=5 is beyond truth now. It is not saying something that pleases an interrogator or torturer, it is truly believing something that one (used to) know is false.
I dunno if Trump is Smith, or O’Brien, or both.

Or Maybe Trump is now nearer Putain, or Kim Jong Un.
Pictures appearing everywhere, he refers to himself in the 3rd person, his followers are selected to be true to him not the country or constitution.

Yep.
NATO with the US as it’s strong foundation is now being undermined by one man.
Since 1989 we have had period of relative stability in W Europe. It is time to realise that we are getting back to normal now.
Peace has been a transient thing in human history. I wish iot were otherwise, but we all need to spend some more on defence now to avoid spending even greater amounts later.

:flushed: Wow…do you really think that?
Keeping an open mind as ever…(btw some on here should try it, it opens up a whole new host of horizons and possibilities for ) IF that IS true, I reckon the knock on effects will have us all severely rubber ducked…hell in a handcart level.

I really can not see it myself, we all know all high profile politicians are prone and sometimes open to corruption, but this is class 1 day one stuff of being self aware, and prudent…
Women and hotel rooms? Nah surely not.
This was going on since WW1 and Mata Hari, bugging hotel rooms for espionage and blackmail purposes.

Sorry to go against the populist flow of tide, but if Trump was THAT naive and stupid to fall for it, he would not have become as succesful as he has in both buisness and politics, he would have been chopped from day 1.

I really hope it aint the case, but I do not think it is, for what that is worth.

That seems a false argument to me.
Someone can be a genius at say…football, and be useless at maths, can’t they?
Why can’t they be good at being greedy and selfish, and be dumb about medicine?
He started with a fortune and still has a fortune. Take inflation into account, and he is not a Midas figure.

By what measure is Trump successful at politics?
He got elected as POTUS for sure, and there is no doubt that is the highest, most powerful, position to get.
Have his stated political goals been achieved? He is enacting many steps to increase his personal/family wealth for sure, but is anything he is doing likely to make better for ordinary US citizens? Is anything likely to get better for anyone except the already well off?

He is shrewd and calculating concerning money and power. No doubt.
Is that good in a politician? I think not.

Yeah, I am sure you will come out with the old “they are all the same” trope. But although they are all human and hence flawed, I believe many (in all parties) are genuinely concerned with things other than their own personal egos.
They all have some degree of hubris. But to say all politicians are like Trump is like saying that a Sunday morning jogger is like Roger Bannister.
They are not “all the same”.

Yeah well it would wouldnt it.

Being streetwise goes with being succesful…in any walk of life. (Not to mention being a bit dodgy)
Getting caught doing naughties with a couple of Russian hookers laid on by your traditional enemy is anything but being streetwise.

But is he successful in business? I’m sure if your dad left you $10,000,00 you’d still have at least $5,000,00.
I’ve heard that, adjusted for inflation, Trump is worth less than he inherited from his father, who made his fortune by ripping off returned servicemen after WW ll. It doesn’t get much lower than that, does it?
A quick search reveals that Trump wasn’t too clever in the ten years to 2024.

Every cent Trump has made, someone else has lost. He has manufactured nothing, he has bankrupted companies, leaving real workers unpaid. It’s easy to take advantage of and financially bully people and companies, when you have the monetary resources of Trump.
