Plod have a team there checking every driver who pulls in for tacho offences, some for defects/load security.

Unless you’re squeaky clean, avoid

why warn people, if they are straight its no big deal if not, lets get them off the road, less drivers or companies mean the possibility of higher wages and better employment prospects,

Because the time lost while getting checked can have a knock on effect, got pulled yesterday in Newhaven docks at 09.30 because of the amount of vehicles pulled wasn’t given the all clear till gone midday missed my tipping time in Tilbury next available booking time was 05.00 this morning so instead of being home this evening I am now waiting to load in Kent and will be home tomorrow evening 24 hours added to my week. :frowning:

Maybe if there were more checks, drivers like the one on Saturday that rolled his truck on the M11 wouldn’t be on the road and wouldn’t be endangering life

This is where it’s gone wrong,we all used to help each other not now, there it is,god help us all.

Perhaps but the driver in that case would have spoken to ferry staff at the time of booking on, he would have spoke to UKBA personnel none of them picked it up, people will always slip through. The majority of vehicles stopped in the UK are foreign so it will do nothing to remove bad UK operators as Hotel Magnum referred to.

Is it right a driver that breaks the law or is under the influence should carry on his merry way and injure someone ?

No one is saying that especially with the driving under influence and chances of Mr Latvian being on truck net are pretty slim to get where he was he would have driven past 4 DVSA checkpoints two of which were more than likely open on that Saturday morning so as I said people will always slip through it is physically impossible to check everyone hence the traffic light system and also why you see so few British registered vehicles in checkpoints

That. We were pulled up by DVSA at Carlisle, hour and a half for two men on overtime, perfectly clean, but I don’t want to a. Be delayed or b. Give them the opportunity to find a small problem.

Just why wouldnt you want to help a fellow driver?? Squeaky clean or bent, if i knew the scales were open for business going past id warn anyone i was in contact with, its the done thing. Hueca/\Jaca is always a catchment for heavies, ill detour and email the yard so others can do the same, help and support for one another is what its about :bulb:

For every d/head stopped and found ■■■■■■ and/or driven for 25 hours, there will be 10 who have maybe not strapped a pallet of cardboard or went over his 9 hours inadvertantly, or some other minor ‘offence’ so yeh I will continue to warn… but this is what it’s come to Andrew too many self righteous and self appointed traffic marshalls today. :unamused:

+1 and probably the same ones who will watch you struggle into somewhere when it would cost them nothing to get out of their cabs and give you a hand

There’s definitely plenty of those type of tossers around today unfortunately. :unamused:

I committed the sin of going over my 4.5 hours, and received a £100 fine a set a result.

Oh, how much over did you say?..

Well, it was quite a lot and I deserve to be shot at dawn.

And how many hours have you lost over the year due to delays caused by lost loads and lorries having accidents due to drivers being drunk or tired from exceeding driving hours or not having sufficient rest?

If that’s the kind of attitude you have one wonders what else you don’t bother to do. I bet you also think you’re a professional driver and sit there wondering why the public don’t share that view.

I agree with bobbya here. It’s not about not helping each other, but why would you want to help someone not got caught who is running bent when the majority of us are? Same with speeding. If I pass a mobile camera I NEVER flash to warn oncoming vehicles. Why? If your driving within the limit you don’t need to take any action, if your not then do I really care if you get caught? Ermmmm nope afraid not. Was on the A75 this morning doing 40mph. I could sense the frustration of trucks behind wanting me to do 50 like in England. Whether I agree with it or not that’s the limit and it means I don’t need warning of a speed camera.
