Guys and gals,
Anyone on here conversant with a PM weigher? Just bought a bulker but can’t find how to use the weigher. Keep pressing zero but it doesn’t register any weight once starting to load. I only want to keep a check on the loaded weight as it is being loaded.
Any help greatly appreciated.
If it’s an artic you need to raise the body a little, if it’s empty raise the body up the weigher should say 0
Have you tried turning your side lamps on ?
Ensure all axles on trailer and the unit are down. Unit and trailer should be left at ride height. We have an I’ve come on the fleet and the yellow line as to be disconnected otherwise it throws the weight out. If you are using the digital gauge as mentioned above you need your sidelights on for a reading. We have found that on the analogue gauge 30 ton is usually under the number 5 mark. But it can be a guessing game until you get used to the trailer. Best of luck
Silly question is the gauge faulty as you have only just brought the trailer and don’t know it’s history

With the lift axle’s up on the unit and trailer on mine it makes no difference to my weigher and if i drop the air out of the unit and trailer if the loader cant reach over it still registers the same mate.
Until you get it calibrated I wouldn’t worry.
Also +1 for what Tango Boy said.

Sounds like the vishay system that sherwoods use on the air bags of the walking floors ? Rather than a pm tipper weigher .
What’s a weigher!!,don’t have one of them on my tipper

if its a rigid ,has it been calibrated ///I mean when I got mine fitted on a 6 wheeler ,the rep gave the mechanic a rundown on reseting everything…every now and again it would register zero BUT they would never show me how they reset it was on a 07 motor. also make sure the wiring coming up hasn’t been disconnected…weigher looks ok but no input.

Had that conversation with a customer this week. Using one of our newer trailers I thought it had one, told the customer it did, then rang the driver who used to use this trailer/unit combo to get a target weight and was very disappointed to be told there isn’t one. Shovel guy got excited and loaded me to 49T when I got on the bridge ha.

We don’t get paid by the ton on most jobs. Its actually our own Demolition division that takes the ■■■■ as there are no weighbridges on site so they like to get as much in as possible to keep their cost down. The worst I did was 57T from Taunton to Ilkeston
If you have got a PM weigher or a Vishay weigher you can telephone them in Barnsley and ask to speak with an engineer and they will talk you through the setting it up and operation of it they have for me a couple of times no problem.Regards Todd
Quick guide to calibrating PM/Vishay weighers.
For the 1155 model (the blue box one) get it loaded and weighed on a weighbridge (note the payload).
Raise the body so it shows a weight (doesn’t matter if it’s wrong)
Use the arrows to find the options screen.
Enter setup.
Select SPAN.
Press EDIT then enter the weight using the up and down arrows.
When done press enter.
It will ask you to confirm.
Come out of the options screens, drop body, raise again and check the net weight.
If it’s still way out you will need PM to recalibrate it. If it’s only a bit out you can repeat the span process and sometimes it will fine tune itself.
Tango Boy: Im out and about, will be in Sheffield in the morning, then Newark to Ilkeston, then maybe another job but will be parked up for the night in Notts. Got a few Notts to Ilkeston trips on Friday and then finish off with a Chesterfield back to MV. Strangely the load from Chesterfield is for Port Talbot on Monday, didn’t think I would be taking scrap there anytime soon.
