OK, Tidd’s got me again,I’ll have one last guess at Brighton depot, only because Uncle Jack(ex-BRS) said to try it…if not will give up and await your answer…as Uncle Jack says you know your stuff…
TIDDERSON:
Brighton depot was a series of lock ups along Wawick Street
As I was saying earlier, these have been pure guess work.I wonder if anyone else out there might be better able to answer the question, come on someone take on the challenge set by Tidderson…The man with the knowledge…(keep up the great work by the way)I am loving the history lesson you are teaching…
I’ve decided to give it one more try,so here goes.Is it Canterbury depot? If not then all I can say is,please put us out of our misery and let us know where it really is please!!!
TIDDERSON:
Priory Road, Rochester
Thanks for finally put me out of my misery…

Good Day All
When on holiday a couple of years ago in the old country with her indoors we managed to catch up with a few old workmates from the BRS Repair Centre at Irthlingborough Northants and as a result these 2 old photos came to light, I was wondering if any of you remember them coming out to your rescue at any time , of course if you had the misfortune to be towed in on the goose neck stiff bar the only view would have been the rear end of them unfortunately I don’t have any pics of the old girls rear LOL
Cheers Dave

Yes Jakey.my time was early fifties when the yard was divided down the middle --Oxford group general and Cowley group (Hardings) bodies, extremely busy for us then as most Morris Motors was exported-cased cars to every port.a lot of Sunday work too-- if your trip was 50 miles more than a days scheduled miles (180) we always started off on Sundays and often it was a fortnight away if you got weekended, happy days !!—toshboy

I’ve put some of these on before
Great Oxford photos . do any of you recall “tex” he drove Brs Oxfords Diamond T?
I have just been looking at “Boballoa/fotki” album of BRS vehicle in England. On picture number 33 is a Leyland Octopus 8wheel flatbed reg.No. EDC155 showing with side panel on bodywork reading " TEES-SIDE".I was rather surprised therefore to see the fleet number as 4D541.
I was under the impression that fleet numbers 4D were from West Yorkshire district.I thought that Teeside branch came under Tyne/Tees District, which was 1D.
Having checked my copy of Ian Allan ABC British Road Services dated sixth and fully revised edition 1963 I see fleet number 4D is West Yorkshire District.
Any one got any ideas what has happened?
TIDDS got any ideas,is it a genuine mistake or is there something wrong with the photo?

Congratulations on opening page 100!
No mistake and nothing wrong with the photo. When nationalisation came in Teeside became part of the Tyne Tees Division and 4D covered the District ot Tees-Side including Stockton, Middlesborough,Hartlepool, Bishop Auckland,Barnard Castle, Thornaby, Darlington and Yarm.
Following reorganisation in 1956 Tyne Tees District was allocated 1D fleet numbers and all lorries were renumbered. EDC 155 became 1D363. Later again in 1964 it changed again with each depot having it’s own fleet number and Tees-Side or Thornaby as it was then became HC. EDC 155 became HC28 before it was sold at auction.
The West Yorkshire District 4D became part of Yorkshire District and was allocated 2D fleet numbers.
