Dave the Renegade:
Hi Bewick,
I saw a pic of one of your Scania 3 series on another site, can’t remember which, looked smart.
Cheers Dave.
Hi Dave Yea OK I bet if it was one of Gough’s you could give chapter and verse on it !!! However on second thoughts if you thought it was smart it might have been on its side !!! If it had been on its side and you had put it on screen the wife would be comforting me now( there there love don’t take on so its only that nasty Welshman winding you up !!) Get the Reg No and I will give you the spiel on it. Cheers Bewick
Right Dave my son !! As promised I can now give you the S.P. on the Scania !! Reg No G361 YLB 90/91 360 bhp 6 by 2 (steer) Topline. I bought it 2nd hand from Keltruck West Brom , low Kms. and immaculate !! It went into service on our European operations ( Benelux & W. Germany) it was driven by one of our Morecambe drivers Mick Proctor. Another Scania we got at the same time was a left ■■■■■■ 4 by 2 Reg no K5CCL which only shipped back to the UK every 6 weeks so Roger the driver could do his laundry ect. ect. This tractor was red & white but liveried with the name of the German Co we worked with – Convent spedition AG of Emmerich on the German /Dutch border .We just sent un-acompanied trailers over for the left ■■■■■■ which worked quite cost effective . Cheers Bewick
Hi Bewick,
It was the topline that I saw the pic of,can’t remember which site, there are so many sites with lorry pics, very often I arrive on them from a link on some other site Ive been looking at. I only know Gough’s lorries, because they are local and quite distinctive from any others around here. Where I live you see a lot of lorries from all over the UK.This looks likely to change as the work is drying up,there has been a change in management ,as Ive said before. Went to Oswestry today, hoped to get some decent pics, but it was either raining or to much sun on the screen of my van,so only managed about four, not to worry, will chase up some more old ones off some of the hauliers I know.
Cheers Dave.
That would be the A35 van would it Dave ■■?
This van Bewick.
O K proved your point but where is the A35 hidden , in garage maybe ? I think I will get that reg no checked out the PNC to if its dodgy !!! Regards Bewick

I wouldn’t have a BMW given but have had more Mercs over the years than sheep in Wales – well almost !! The wife has the car now just a C180 that does about 3/4 K a year ! I used to clock circa 50 K per year but those days are long gone and I don’t miss it one little bit Dave !! Regards Bewick.
Dave the Renegade:
Hi Bewick,
Just remembered where I saw the photo of one of your lorries,it’s on ebay, also a few more, here’s one a Scani 111 TEC641R.
Cheers Dave
Hi Dave I thought you must have gone down the Pub tonight ! TEC 641R SCANIA 111/day cab 5 speedbox new into service Jan 77 ( K. Fell & Co Ltd Bewick subsiduary) Ran on distance for a while until the driver got b/lised he was a good Lad as well ! Then we put it onto trunk to a depot we had at Dunstable ( that was about 450 miles a night ) It then did day shifts into Lancs .Its sister tractor was TEC 640 but it had a 10 spd box and was a Bewick fleet tractor on distance and driven by a driver called Duncan McMinn from Kendal. TEC 641R was £500 cheaper cause it was a 5 spd. but it was a cracking motor !! A lot of the big Sotch firms ran 5 spd 111s as they were bomb proof !! Regards Bewick.
Hi Bewick,
A mate of mine still has a Scania 111 on a T plate,he intends restoring it so he keeps saying, there.s a picture of it on the Welsh Border thread. As for the Pub,we don’t have one here, and Ive never taken a chance with drink driving,my license is more important, just have a can or a bottle of beer at home. Pubs are to noisy for me, I like a bit of peace and quiet.
Cheers Dave.
Here’s my mate Les Good’s Scania 111,Les doesn’t go in for fancy logo’s or a lot of signwriting with his lorries,as he say’s he runs lean and mean.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave ,Yep we had a few 111’s like this one but at that time we were still trying to be patriotic and taking deliveries of Sed Atks,ERF,s and even Big J,s as well as a few F10,s !! cheers Bewick.
hiya,
Chris and FF still got a soft spot for the Bristol, but if there’s a pup attached I bags an AEC my pulling power “of the handlebars that is” isn’t what it used to be and the mk5 might just be a little more gentle with me.
thanks harry long retired
hiya,
Chris the last batch’s of pics by yourself and FF show quite a lot BRS Fodens, i did quite a spell for the old red and rust “three stints early 60s to late 70s” and can’t recollect seeing many Fodens my places never had any, maybe when i used other depot’s they was all out earning, the Mandators were some motor but needed a lot more looking after than the Bristol’s according to my mate who worked in the fitters shop he said they were very expensive to maintain compared to the Bristol’s which only ever needed oil changing and brakes adjusting. i was never let down with them and when coupled up to Bristol’s own trailer they always looked the part to me.
thanks harry long retired.
that mk5 AEC looks spot on and was perhaps good for 70mph.Not a lot of driver comfort and a bit noisey, but what was’ntin the 60s and that round bonnet was useless for a 20min kip. Mind you i only did recovery or day trips with mk5s. Theres a photo of a Adams Butter mk5 with twin headlights looks stunning. I’ll borrow it and put it on here
John
hiya,
Does anyone remember the AEC low air pressure warning system a flag that popped up when you was getting low on pressure for the brakes one motor i drove the pop up was actually a hand shaped thing was this the AEC or something else my old memory is a bit rubbish.
thanks harry long retired.

The AEC MK3s and the early MK5s had a flag that came up with “stop” on it.
So you did if you could .
I never saw a hand-shaped one Harry so you must have been driving the “ghia” model.
hiya,
Thanks for that Chris the hand thingy could have been on a different breed of motor altogether possibly a military vehicle or one of the prime movers i used to drive when working casual for some of the heavy haulage companies you know we’re a bit busy can you do us a week or two Wynns Trafford Park was one i shifted a few loco’s for them at one time they had some funny old motors but all capable of doing the job they was sent to, could have worked there fulltime but only got on as a casual and i got a recall to the red and rust after being laid off for a while that was my first love.
thanks harry long retired.
