British Army Looking for HGV1 Drivers

I think if im right this could be working for a company called FTX who are part of KBR(kellog broon & root)

It mainly involves driving the big oshkosh HETS which are basicly tank transporters about, and you would then deploy overseas (afghan) and basicly drive HETS about, get a sun tan, get fat on subways/pizza hut and come home with a large bank balance and a load of made up war stories about taking on the taliban single handed!

I looked at this when i was leaving the army, but as you can guess they were fully manned, but now i think about it, not even all the money in the world would get me back out to that certain (zb) hole!!

Could be an interesting job I think, anyone on here looked into it at all?

i would love it just for the uniform.

should be easy enough i very much doubt you will be facing and real danger.

Well I might give them a ring tomorrow, I’m ex-squaddie, still fit, play and referee rugby matches, clean licence, but best of all the wife says I can do it!!! Oh an hopefully still keep my job… Only negative is that I’m fifty in a few weeks…

i looked into it a few years back when it 1st appeared. Basically you are TA and as such you have to be able to pass all tests that they have to (weapon handling, fitness etc etc). I was told that when you are not on deployments then you are farmed out as an agency driver to get your hours in. This was over 5 years ago now I think. This type of thing will be seen a lot more as the army is looking to rely on the TA/reserves in a much bigger way in the future.

That’s another CV sent off

the m16 is good, only 7.5 kilos. the SA80 mark 2 actually works now, but it’s 15 kilos.
soon we will get some chinese weapons, they are plastic, and fire ■■■■■■.

I think you will find that the SA80 weighs about 5 kilo’s and the M16 about 4. Weapon of choice at the moment for the troops is the 7.62 sharpshooter

well it felt heavy to me.

Not ex forces, but have applied anyway.

Well, I’m ‘cuddly’, got mild asthma, last did some excercise about a week ago, which included a 1/2 mile cycle ride out, and 1/2 mile back, the 1/2 mile out killed me, the 1/2 mile back finished me off, was walking like I was drunk, legs like jelly, chest on fire…

Never been in military, I believe respect must be earned, it isn’t given just because you’re a ‘higher rank’.

I’ll save my ink I think

Its probably academic to know what weapons the military use. They don’t issue them to reservist drivers.
Good vid here…youtube.com/watch?v=5uC4DvNR … =fvwp&NR=1

Anyone applying make sure you give your missus details of the PDF fund and an application form !!!
