Anyone ever noticed the railway bridge on the A413 near Wendover, near Aylesbury? I went under it the other night and thought it had to be a low bridge even though it had no height indicator (and no warnings on any of the approaching roads). The road zigzags when it goes under. My artic (13ā-2" IIRC) was fine but I wouldnāt like to take a double-decker under there.
Yes Iāve been under that with a 13ā 3" artic and think the same as you re: taking a DD under there. My ar$e would be twitching like a rabbits nose.
When I started doing the odd shift for UK Mail, they had 69 deckers on the fleet,
All the units used with these had electronic height detectors fitted,
They were that clever - they even gave you a countdown to impact, with faster beeps & showed you how many meters away from a bang.
Got a bit confusing sometimes when they beeped at you when you were going over a low bridge.
They now run a lot more deckers, but no longer fit these things - cut backs I guess - False economy I reckon !!!,
.
Oh dear. Not a good week for Walkerās then; one of their ā ā ā ā ā ā vehicles found its way into a ditch on Monday. Some of it is still there today.
There has been a bridge bash involving 2 artics today on the a638 ackworth, some pictures online if you google it,i dont know how to get them on to here, any takers

Thank you fellas, the thing with that bridge is theres beams that go across the road if you break um a big neon sign comes up sending you on a small detour to miss it so theres no excuse to hit it

I donāt think thatās worked for years Seth. When I used to load high cube boxes in Ackworth area I went past that ābeamā from the western side each time and it never triggered, despite being 14ā6.

I canāt actually work out WTF they are trying to achieve here. Has the black guy got a set of reins attatched to his āhorseā? Also, what are they trying to acheive by dropping the unit and backing up to the trailer? Surely they canāt imagine that heāll be able to drag it backwards away from the bridge? So many questions, so little time.

That makes two of us then. It all looks very ChuckleVision.
To me, to you, to me, to youā¦
Does look like a bit of a ghetto recovery job.
He has dropped the trailer so the top is no longer touching the bridge and is dragging it out, with straps, to then hook back up and reverse. In fairness, it ought to work, so top marks for thinking on his feet. It probably will drag although I would try nudging it in reverse with the chassis rear cross member first.
(Obviously bottom marks for doing it in the first place)
Pound to a pinch of dog ā ā ā that the trailer legs snap first. That is even if the unit can stop its wheels from spinning long enough to actually move the trailer in the first place.
Can say from experience the trailer legs would hold up fine. It would probably spin the driver wheels so might need to ā ā ā ā ā ā it really wouldnāt take much force with the shunt on though.
IāII call that he made this work (donāt let me down container Maguyver)
You have way more faith in his abilities than I do OAD! Bearing in mind that the berk put himself in this position to start with.
Ps, Iād take another wager that he wouldnāt even consider the shunt button either.
guaranteedit ends up on its knees,or the straps go round the handles of the containerā¦then through the back of the cab once they snapā¦any takers??
