I believe you should not poke fun at the misfortune of others, having said that the last 2 were the best in particular the Culina truck, the man is clearly wasting his obvious talent as a stunt driver.
That’s was a good motor he wrecked though…

Yep and the trailer, crashes happen to the best, but clouting a bridge when the approach is festooned with signs is bad form.
I shall be extra careful having seen the photo’s.

If you’re pulling a decker like that UK Pallets it’s pretty much an assumption you won’t go under hardly any railway bridges.
I’m sure the stalkers one was a couple of years back, apparently they had re layed the road and forgot to change height.
Any pedestrians on the pavement don’t seem to have a chance do they…
The one at Salisbury on the a36 I’ve set off before and its an arch bridge but there always seems to be loads to spare.

has anyone else noticed the last photo (culina) shows it rammed fairly hard into the tree which is a fair distance from the bridge. Google earth shows it as being a 30 mph road.
How fast was the driver going to hit the bridge, which i assume would have knocked a bit of speed off, and still be going fast enough to plow into the tree?
i agree 4meters should be the height no stupid double deckers more work more jobs
Whilst I agree that we should have a 4m height limit, may I suggest the authorities just dig out and relay the road with suitable clearance. That must be cheaper on these frequent hitters
Used to go under this on a daily basis, going into Settle in North Yorks to the paper mill, if I remember rightly it was 149" and I used to go under in a 14
6" drawbar, it`s on a S bend aswell
Bridge in Botley road Oxford is marked 13’6 but a lot higher than that will go under up to 4.25m maybe
I think the double decker buses ignore it unless they’re some special short ones made for Oxford.
A bit more about the Culina one here… google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source … Kzu4ZZOllA

Most bridge strikes would be avoided if vehicles were no more than 4.0m high on UK roads…!
why cant the driver just 1.read the signs and 2.know the height of their trailer for [zb] sake, common sense springs to mind here
Derf:
The Morgan freight motor looks to be running at 4 metres (plus - although it’s hard to say for sure given the weight is now all on the nearside - looks to me like he’s dropped the trailer suspension to get under) a 4 metre outfit should just squeeze under a 4.1 bridge (although my ■■■ would be very tight if i attempted it) If that is the case, the driver should be blameless, as there no offence if his vehicle is lower than the posted bridge height. The UK pallets truck is entirely different matter… looks like that used to be a double decker - quite frankly I’m impressed he managed to get it all the way through!
Given the number of strikes it has, seems that the bridge could be incorrectly marked. Mind you a 4m trailer (or any for that matter) does sit a bit higher on a 3 axle unit than it does on a 4-wheeler
I thought the Stalkers trailer appeared about the 13’6 mark from the picture, no idea without checking, but headboard doesn’t look like it’d be much above the truck if at all.
Again, with the last Culina picture, doesn’t look like it’d be a high trailer even with a straight headboard.
Suprised by the lack of Scanias in the pic, a known thing of them raising by 3" when the lift axle is up has caught a few drivers out of the years.
I agree about the UK Pallets though, that’s just MADNESS
OVLOV JAY:
That bridge must be on the top ten hit list. Glad I only run at 2 heights, unless I’m empty skell or doing an oversize
Keep an eye on reefers though, I picked 1 up for delivery at Fowler Welch, and it was only when I was in their yard I noticed the 10’3 sign on the box, looked like a normal high cube to me, and I’d gone under a bridge, but it was a bridge that Fowlers own trucks go under, and they’re about 15’9. This was before they moved from Bird Hall Lane in Cheadle.
There’s an arched bridge at Penistone which I nudged into, good job I didn’t like the look of it an crept along. No damage done thank god! The road underneath the bridge bends which adds to the difficulty!
Fallmonk:
With all they hits (plus probably more not photoed) would it not be worth tha RAILWAYS putting a hight bar before they got to the bridge ? so all they do is hit that and set of lights maybe raise bollards / railway style gates close over ■■?
A lot cheaper than bridge repairs / roads clossed ?
Driving for O’Reilly’s my stepdad was up in Edinburgh somewhere, inched towards a bridge and touched a bar that hung down not long before it. Backed out and was met at the next roundabout by about 4 police cars and a van, apparently the bar was linked straight to the police station and had buzzed an alarm off.
