Brexit stuff in one place [MERGED]

Monkey241:
Brexit is the greatest criminal act of all time to summate your verbose hyperbole

Since I`ve never said that, your dishonest summation is setting up a strawman for you to destroy.

Monkey241:
Because we should have stayed in a crap trade bloc.
[zb] genius [emoji1787]

Yes the EU is crap…But the alternatives, the real alternatives, are worse.
Not genius, but a simple argument that you seem unable to grasp.

Anyway there is a Brexit Bonus coming in January!
So, as we need more administrators for the next stage of Brexit, as the extra import papers come on line, we will be creating more jobs in admin and C&E.

Dishonest?

Not at all and you know it

The UK was hoping to be included in the 77 billion quid EU Horizon climate research scheme. Various outlets report we aren’t because the EU doesn’t trust us to keep our word on any agreements reached.
Macedonia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Israel, Georgia are included however.

Most trade negotiators take instruction from their minister, and the Government of the day.
Frost is a Cabinet Minister. He can and does make policy. That is within the power of a Minister.
Negotiators take instruction according to agreed policy. Frost, at the least influences, or makes, policy.
He is not elected, and has never stood for election.
.
He isn’t the only unelected Minster ever, and not the only one under this administration. Neither of which makes for this unusual situation being very good.
.
As a Cabinet Minister he can speak on matters of policy in departments as well as his own. He has a lot of influence in many matters of government.
His influence (as all Cabinet business) is unheard by the public. He is not accountable to the House of Commons, nor the electorate, anywhere.
He owes his position to the patronage of Johnson.
.
Some support Brexit for reasons of democratic accountability, I believe.
How does that sit with the deal being overseen by someone chosen by one man, Johnson?

Brexit and democratic accountability?

A slightly hypocritical approach from a Remainer.

An inaccurate one too…Frost can be removed by democratic vote just like the rest.

And as a Lord of course he doesn’t answer to the Commons but he does answer to the HoL and the electorate.

Why hypocrisy?
I find that curious.

How can an Frost be removed by a democratic vote? If the Gov falls then sure he will probably go with them, but the electorate have had no hand at all, in his being appointed, and even if every single person in the country wanted him out, it would still be up to Johnson to decide his fate. Not the electorate.
.
Answering to the H of L. Yes. But are they the servants of the electorate? No.

So…if the govt falls by your logic no govt minister is democratically accountable?

Are you suggesting that a house that for centuries has been responsible for scrutiny and holding to account, ignores the needs of the country?

Frost is not elected to Parliament. He is an appointee.
Are his negotiations being put to a vote by Parliament?
As a Cabinet Minister he has a say (out of public view) in the running of the country.
Where is his public accountability?

He isn’t elected to Parlt…nor is his position unique…but any govt can be removed at the ballot box and he is part of that.

Are his negotiations being put to Parlt?
His negotiations are part of a deal that has already been agreed… and if they are so distasteful that govt can be brought down in any number of ways: one of which being a party rebellion of MPs (you know, those guys in whom we put our trust democratically) His actions are both ultimately accountable to the sovereign British people and to the First Lord of the Exchequer, democratically elected to get Brexit done.

For you of all people to hang your hat on this is quite comical.

You lost the initial debate, you lost 4 years of guerilla warfare and now you’re repeating those mistakes again. I think you consider yourself quite smart - to me anyone that can’t learn from their history is a fool.

Remind me of the scathing powers that the EU parliament has…

Expats In Spain Regretting Their Brexit Vote!
A British Expat living in Spain was interviewed by The Express where he described the problems facing Brits living in the country. He also explained how many were celebrating the Brexit win in 2016 but are now saying “I Voted Remain”.

I think it is time for an Amnesty.

We all now know in our hearts that voting for Boris Johnson and his Pals was not only a mistake but a licence to the Old Etonians and first-generation Billionare immigrants to right royally shaft us all.

Brexit was just part of their plan to make us totally subservient to their will, whereby our European friends could no longer help us out or stop their dastardly plans to enslave us.

So I say, as we approach the Season of Goodwill To All Men :-
Please forgive Brexit & Tory Voters “For they Know Not What They did - Or Do”

We all know (or should) thst 2022 will have the next wave(s) of Brexit red-tape come on stream.
I didn’t realise it but there will also be extra paperwork for light vans and trailers. They’ll need Operating Licences, and to have a proper Transport Manager as well.

The Pyrénées always look nice in the sun.

Best seen from a respectable distance at this time of year if in a truck!

Ah, but one does not want to miss the free range Unicorns gambolling in the Andorran snow.
A sight to behold.
They are being breed for export for the Unicorn kingdom, although no sunlit uplands included.
Camera shy unfortunately

A Brexit Bonus!
A real one. At last.
Yep the newly signed Australia UK trade deal does look like it will be better for the UK than we had before.
It should be better for every household to the tune of £1 per year.
And add 0.02% to the UK Economy (Over 15 years). Maybe more depending on modeling used.
theguardian.com/business/20 … lden-goose

Yep we will as a Nation be not quite one hundredth of one per cent better off…
(Of we discount any possible losses that may just possibly have come about because of Brexit)
Now all we have to do is find another 150 or 200 other Australias lying around somewhere, and we will break even on Brexit.
thelondoneconomic.com/news/ … ch-300370/
There must be a hundred or two spare continents lying around undiscovered in the back of an economist settee surely? All we need is positive thought.
And a hope that shipping costs don’t increase. Nothing likely to happen with fuel over the next decade or two to affect long distance trade is there?
