So if the EU simply paid you wage of €2,500 a month for doing nothing basically means your opinions can be bought with some cold hard cash. That’s some dedication to your cause going on there isn’t it.

Well at least he’s being honest. Countless pages of incomprehensible waffle, tub-thumping, ranting, playing with the colour of fonts, going mental with punctuation marks . . . and all it would take to change his mind is a couple of grand. I think he’s maybe pricing himself a little low.
We can all be bought, most of us for far less than I…

Why is it only the Banks and larger firms that get the free printed money thrown at them by the trillion?
Sunak could have done nothing about the economy with regards to Covid (i.e. not totally f—ed it beyond meaningful recovery…) and isntead offered £1m cash to each person with “Died of Covid” on their death certificate. This would have injected around £250billion into the economy thus far, rather than wasted a similar amount on his nutty expense list for Covid to date, which has achieved pretty much NOTHING postiive for the economy, but a hell of a lot of damage for the 99%+ population who were never in danger from Covid to START with…

I wont paste all or even any of Wingers post ,
but he made a comment about the EU stopping European produce coming to the UK and that the UK can look elsewhere.
Does he really think that me and my colleagues will no longer be allowed to bring over:
various cheeses, duck/chicken breasts, quail and quail eggs, produce from Spain including wines and spirits.
and what about Laurent Pellier who bring over apples in huge quantities.
All the Spanish firms that bring over veg throughout the year and satsumas at Christmas.
All going to stop, because Brussells said so, THINK NOT !!
and what about in reverse, does he realise how much English cheeses we take back to France.
The Prime Minister will decide tomorrow whether to lead Britain out of the European Union without a trade deal.
He declared yesterday that leaving without an agreement would be ‘wonderful for the UK and we’d be able to do exactly what we want’.
‘It obviously would be different from what we’d set out to achieve but I have no doubt this country can get ready and, as I say, come out on World Trade terms.’

Thing is, it is Remainers that are trying to hang Boris out to dry for ditching his “Oven Ready Deal”, whilst Brexiteers are all sitting fingers crossed today that this news about RN Gunboats in the channel - isn’t fake!!

Doubtless some are happy with all of this.
But, all Brexiteers? Those who in 2016 listened to the promises of “frictionless borders”, “easiest trade negotiations”, “we hold all the cards”, etc etc, those who last year voted Johnson in with his “oven ready deal” , who heard him say that “no deal would be a failure of statecraft*”.
Are all of those really happy about gun boats in the channel? Did those who wanted a better deal, happy with the situation today?

It’s going to be very annoying for the naval vessels to ’ board ’ a fishing vessel with a European marking and then find that the skipper is carrying a permit bought from the UK when the UK fishermen sold off their quota. All that hassle to get them to pull over and find a plaice to park. Brexit - it’s sole destroying .Well it’s certainly shellfish. Squid’s in for Boris and his mates though.
Easier on the road to stop a foreign truck just because of the registration but carrying a permit for a different country.
I read that out of applications for ECMT permits only 2 000 will be issued from 10 000 demanded. Not a good thing for any haulier or driver.

Hopefully they will be paper & not digital - still a few ex ME drivers & operators around who can supply as many permits as you need

Will only need one genuine permit to work from

I’ve already said that EU carriage of goods TO the UK will likely continue unchecked after January 1st. Those wagons returning home empty - will be the ones making up “Operation Stack”.
What isn’t so clear is the effect of any “tariffs” being included on top, or any extra costs should the pound take a further dive against the Euro.
If the price of any produce from the EU increases by say, 100% in the new year - then you’d have to be a bit of a nutter to still want to go out of one’s way paying through the nose - when you can buy similar products from further afield at (by that point) lower prices?
We can expect the EU on the other hand to block UK trucking access to the EU markets, out of spite if nothing else…
UK firms have had nearly five years to get ready for this, so NO EXCUSES now that it appears to be coming as “No Deal” as it should have been from the very beginning.
Paying over 50+ months of an extra billion per month to Brussels - could have been better spent here, but that’s water under the bridge by this point.
Better late than never.

What do you think the proportion of Remainers who “didn’t realize what they were voting for” compared to “Brexiteers who didn’t know what Brexit they wanted”■■?
It is like holding a referendum after Chamberlain came back with his piece of paper, that must have got hopes up very high for a few months after…
“What kind of peace would you like to vote for with Hitler”?
compared with
“What kind of War should we be having with Hitler” being shouted from the back benches by perhaps the most famous backbencher of all time…

" a failure of statecraft for which WE would ALL be responsible".
Not one person’s fault according to him, he accepts some blame himself. Quite unusual for him actually.
Others may differ.
Those who voted remain knew what they were getting, a continuation of what we had.
Those who voted leave may have wanted s better deal, or no deal at all. What was repeatedly offered was promises of a better deal. What is around the corner is a crappy WTO no deal. I doubt 50% of the population want that?
But, hey ho!
At least the ERG will be happy. Johnson looks after his leash holders.
And those extra customs officials we have to deal with extra export and import documents?
“analysis suggested the number of UK customs officials had been boosted by just 16, despite a pledge from ministers in 2018 to recruit between 3,000 and 5,000 extra officials.”
bbc.com/news/uk-politics-55290109
Some import docs can be ignored as our own choice. But an indication of failure of good administration as well as of a failure of statecraft?
.
.
Plus
House of Lords committee raising doubts about readiness too.
“But businesses have voiced concerns that the customs software and the special electronic Brexit passports for international freight drivers to get into Kent will not be ready in time for Brexit day.
A House of Lords committee wrote to Michael Gove on Thursday to say it was “not confident that all necessary technological, physical and welfare arrangements will be in place in time to avoid or mitigate disruption”.
It raised concerns voiced by software experts that some key customs systems are only going live at the end of the month while others are still in development and testing.”
“Sandip Verma, the chair of the EU goods sub-committee, criticises the “default expectation” of the government “that everything will be ready”, which is “reflected in the worrying lack of contingency preparations”, including failure to get all traders ready, including SMEs that cannot afford customs agents.”

Its about time this was put in Bully’s. Its become a boring Remain V Leave argument with the same old boring conversations we had in 2016.

t be happy either.
2 dozen bottles wine, 200 cigs, £390.00 max other stuff such as clothing etc.
But, these lower amounts may become duty free again, so could be a swingsn
roundabouts situation. You get less, but what you do get is cheaper.
Will drivers get to bring in the full amount every trip? With electronic logging available now I reckon we may be monitored more. At first, there will be too much other stuff going on to be bothered, but later? Who knows?
