“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.“
Excellent website OM, really good info.
Just waiting for the new Fr.gov website to go live so I can sort out my wife’s CdS
Brexit Don’t Want US Trade Deal Now?
After Joe Biden spoke out to reaffirm his commitment to the Good Friday Agreement, Conservative brexiteers have been lining up to tell the potential President of the United States to mind his own business. It seems they’re not that bothered about the US trade deal anymore.

But the RHA would say that wouldn’t they they’re still crying after being refused a government handout to train more drivers and the commons select committee telling them that their members and business practises were the reason there was a driver shortage. Don’t know why the RHA is so involved the majority of hauliers exporting from the UK aren’t British and so far foreign hauliers haven’t had an invite to join the RHA, just using it as opportunity to make themselves heard and justify his wages hardly been vocal since their inception for improving the lives of drivers.

Remember that hauliers that had attended early Brexit meetings with the Government were made to sign disclosures so they didn’t go public with what a complete mess it was.
If you think this only affects lorries crossing the channel you are wide of the mark…

I know it doesn’t only affect lorries crossing the channel but I will listen to what other organisations say long before I pay heed to the RHA, an organisation that couldn’t give a toss about me or you and only interested in looking after it’s paymaster big business. For a bit of balance the IRHA is no better it’s outgoing head who is now a TD told the Irish parliament that until the UK stops being the only EU country to enforce cabotage rules then there should be no trade talks with regards to haulage, she must have been on holiday when UK and Danish hauliers doing windfarm construction were forced by the Irish authorities to register their lorries in Ireland to avoid cabotage. It would seem that having next to no knowledge as to what goes on in the real world of haulage makes you well qualified to be the head of a haulage association.

Add this little gem regarding M.Rabb and his night-out money
The expenditure directly incurred by Mr Raab on a two-day trip to Washington DC in September 2019, including travel, accommodation and meals, was £19,371.

Nothing says ‘Move along, nothing to see here’ more eloquently than a non-disclosure agreement.

They didn’t have to sign it, could have refused, walked out of the meeting and then gone public as to why they walked out, another case of UK haulage having no backbone.

Maybe the RHA should have walked away. But why would a Government impose such restrictions in the first place?
This Gov has form in stifling scrutiny and open comment: Banning journalists from briefings, boycotting R4s Today programme, the initial C19 test figures that later disappeared when they were failing to deliver on promises. Good job our journalists stood against Johnson and so continue to report on the £156m contract for useless face masks, cronyism in housing contracts, and now a £100billion project that has less chance of success than the non existent (whoops! world class?) track and trace app. MoonShot has the fingerprints of a non-elected wannabe silicon-valley Steve Jobs all over it. Big ideas, not thought through, but with a gosh! wow! presentation. Wonder if the contracts will go to public tender, before some minister
s or advisor`s buddies get them?

If they’d have made a stand and walked out maybe we would know why restrictions were being imposed and scrutiny could have and been brought to bear the meeting could have reconvened without restrictions. The reason no one took a stand is because whoever stood up first and walked knew that no one else would follow him so instead they sat there, put their hand in the communal jar of vaseline and bent over. It’s no good signing something you don’t agree with and then ■■■■■■■■ about it afterwards.

Absolutely agree.
Tell that to Johnson, too!

I agree it applies to all sides but this is about an organisation the RHA, that claims to represent our industry yet time and time again absolutely fails and then looks to lay the blame elsewhere no wonder no one in authority takes them seriously.
Theses talks werent about two sides thrashing out a deal in this instance. It wasn
t about two opposing sides arguing.
It was, or should have been, the Gov explaining what will happen on Jan 1st 2021.

Fair enough but that still doesn’t detract from the RHA’s previous shortcomings which then makes it hard for them to present a decent argument now or in the future
Good to see you’re still up to speed with your links

Thanks!
Previous shortcomings are wide spread. The RHA certainly have their faults.
Remember (2018) Raab discovering that Dover is quite a busy place? Has anyone else learnt lessons from his ignorance?

Big ideas, not thought through, but with a gosh! wow! presentation.Their response to every undelivered target is to counter that failure with bigger and even more unrealistic targets. It’s now gone up to 10 million daily tests by January using technology which they admit doesn’t yet exist. (A small but irrelevant detail to Boris).

I’d say highly unlikely.

Sorry Franglais, completely messed up that reply. Tried to get clever with cutting and pasting, then tried to delete it, then ended up posting it twice.
