Its these plonker car drivers who breakdown at the most awkward spots. Todays rush hour was a good example. M25 j22 the average speed bit where theres no hard shoulder some old banger broke down causing mayhem right back to j26. Then on the M1 just past luton mayhem again with some plonker brokedown again where theres no hard shoulder. Then I looked across the motorway and another breakdown s/bound where theres no hard shoulder causeing miles of tailbacks.
My point is, why in this day and age are these awkward plonkers breaking down? Run out of petrol? Bad maintinence? Theres no excuse for it in my view and old bill should be charging them.

Perhaps they do it on purpose?
Must be loads of drivers that have broken down on qiuet roads causing no obstuction whatsoever
Is there a good place to breakdown?
I had a orange Renualt Master tipper van’s gearbox go under the M1/M6/A14 bridge on Thursday! It suddenly cut out under the bridge heading westbound, then his reverse lights came on Thought he was reversing straight for me!

Agreed, when it’s appropriate, but:
a) Isn’t old bill presiding over a liberal society whereby, and very fashionably, no-one is encouraged to give much of a ■■■■?
b) Diversity is being politically employed to dilute any notion of national unity - therefore we must accept and applaud the right of dung-heads to be stupid and run ill ‘maintained’ motors.
c) Plod is skint due to chasing terrorists and,
d) They don’t want a day in court in six months time, etc, etc?
Drive shafts / cv joints can go without warning, as can gearbox’s (I know, bloody Renault 19 16v box went as I was about to join a roundabout, had been fine till then and then I just got neutral, thought it was selector, but it was the box itself)
Electrical gizmos controlling everything can just decide that the figure is incorrect and you’re stopped.
Of course it should never happen, why on earth would something with thousands of moving parts ever stop working I for one have never seen a car, bus, lorry, tractor of any vintage broke down, you must be unlucky
I was on the M25 ON 30/9/11,and saw the broken down silver horse box in lane one,on exit 23,clockwise direction, long jams for that one.
And a lady driver broken down in lane 2 in the road works, there was no third lane there.I just got passed before the traffic began to build up.Anti clockwise direction.
Once saw a group of Brit tourists stopped on a blind corner with a blown tyre on their camper trailer,it was a fast road, late at night,i called the Gendarmes,or i think i woke them up,as they like their beauty sleep,in France.
I would say that about half the broken down cars I deal with in the roadworks, live lane due to no hard shoulder, have ran out of fuel. A lot of them J12 Northbound, just past the services.
These drivers should get a ticket and fine!!
Snapped a prop on a 110 in the centre of Bologna. It was close to the kerb in a residential area ,big old flats both sides of the road. Ended up having to sleep there. In the night all the Italians came out into the street talking loudly to each other. I thought they were complaining about me parking the truck there so kept quiet. Next morning I was told they’d been an earthquake.

Us truck drivers never break down do we. I’m sure people choose to break down in the most dangerous inconvenient place just to ruin everyone’s day
A few years ago when I had a daf, breakdowns were a regular occurance . The most memorable was Sheriffhall roundabout on the Edinburgh city bypass right in the middle of rush hour, as you can imagine that went down really well , according to the radio the queue was back as far as Dreghorn
