Had an argument today, pulled up at a delivery and another truck was there. I politely asked how much longer, only to be told “25 minutes mate, am on a break”. I advised that I needed to crack on, but was told that he “can’t move till break finished” I then said " you do realise it is illegal to do this". Only to be told " tough".
Seriously, if you are that pushed to take your breaks whilst unloading, then change employer. I had to wait half hour because of this ■■■■, who was a big lad, so I had to suffer.
This is a regular occuremce as I multi drop in 44 tonne Actros.
Any ideas■■?
take a chill pill
heart attack around the corner
I am chilled, thats why I take my Full break when I am ready, not giving the company my breaks that they deduct.
Yes, block him in, you must need a break yourself at some time in the day, there’s a perfect opportunity
Do not worry about his size, tell him to move or you’re going to kick his arse, then start going off like a lunatic, punch yourself in the head a few times, while screaming at him, he’ll think you’re a complete maniac, chances are he will get out of your way, if he doesn’t and jumps out to give you a slap, kick him in the ■■■■■■■■, a well aimed kick should give you enough time to do your delivery and be about ten minutes down the road. If he doesn’t drop when you do that, then run, really fast
Take a chill pill.
Happens to me, but I do multi-drop in a Axor or Volvo with a mountie attached.
To day a nice chap had been waiting for an hour while the goods in had their lunch, along I come. Goods in bloke asks how much I have for him, I reply 2. Nice chap been sitting there for over an hour say’s to me in you go I will be awhile . So good drops and bad drops.
Just chill. You only have the 1 heart and it’s to last you a life time, don’t put stress on it.
A special place in hell should be reserved for rigid (usually 7.5t TNT and the like) that decide a good place for a 45 is the turning area of an industrial estate. I can never understand how come it’s so difficult to park parallel with the kerb just about anywhere else.
Big lad eh…tell someone at delivery point it’s not on or take the bull by the horns and tell the gorilla to shift in no uncertain terms!!! You may be surprised how quick he moves…I’m not particularly big but have the confidence to deal with most people, It’s how you first approach them.
First rule DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED!!
You should of gone to the customer and asked if they were prepared to wait for the other driver. It’s not your problem if someone else can’t work a clock and manage their time.
I have yet to visit a delivery or collection address where they were happy for the days work to be put on hold while a driver takes a break on the loading dock.
It’s nice to be polite but don’t be fobbed off by the brainless (especially those who like to work for free). Go and see a grown up next time…

Should any driver decide to have a break in the middle of the stockyard, I will ask them to move; The 2 or 3 that were on a break did move with no attitude but if I get abuse/threats they’ll get a 30t Cat loader up their arse.

what gets me about this is when queing up to fuel up some idiot has his on break
Now hang on, if he had 25 mins left then he’s had his 15 so can get back out and find somewhere to park, I very much doubt he had landed there on exactly four and a half hours. And if he’s having a 30 then he’s only been on break for 5 mins so in any case he’s only just started so can move on and waste 5 mins of his day not 25 of yours.

It’s the way they think, like it’s some kind of Jedi mind trick, that the words ‘I’m on a break mate’ makes wasting a 15mins or more of your life magically ok.

Yeah, but don’t forget that the ‘Jobs gone ■■■■■■’ and the lad ‘Could earn more stacking shelves at Tesco’ why should he engage brain and do his job properly?
We’ll probably get another thread from some donkey who keeps getting mithered to move on when he has his breaks on loading bays…

Your right, if it was me I think I would have tried to Talk a bit of sense into him anyway, I don’t think I would let it get to me regardless of the outcome.
It’s not just this industry though, I have noticed it’s people’s attitudes that have changed, people don’t seem to give a ■■■■ anymore.
