This rumour was all over europe years ago,but has anyone else heard of it,you are on a 45 min break, the boss disturbs you, then you can add two hours for your break, the same for a daily rest if he rings you up.

It can’t have been that many years ago, no mobile phones around in the good old days
This rumour, was it being circulated in your head among the many personalities that dwell within
Keep em coming though Tobias, you’re quite entertaining
If the office rang me and it took 10mins, yes I added the time onto my break. Same as I’d been in the workshop for a half hour repair job, came out and parked in the yard for 45min break when TM wanted to scan tachos and go through some new rules. This took about 30 mins after which I let him know I’d switched the tacho back to other work.
Meant I dropped a load at the end of the day and went home on time.
if the boss rings me i just put the magnet on to be sure i’m legal.

Seems I have to change the wording in my DCPC hand outs again. I’d forgotten about this one. Hard work keeping up with all these rule changes.
Can anyone clarify if this counts even if the driver doesn’t answer the phone? The fact it rang and made a noise must count?
What if it was a wrong number? Still add 2 hours but maybe split it but the second part MUST be 30 minutes.
If the boss or office rang whilst on a 45min break, it wouldn’t bother me much
But on the other hand if after doubled manned shift (which used to be 22 hrs) & often driving through the night ,
If they ring then the first time i would answer, tell them that if it happed again i would be extending my rest period by 2hrs as they had interrupted my rest period
After we where parked up & on break, we always rang the office to tell them where we were and if tipped ect and what time our daily rest ended even though we where on tracker and they could work out everything for their selves , but more times than not the phone would ring after 3-4hrs of being on break asking the questions we had already given earlier , (zb) jokers!!! but after the threat of an extended break being carried out,
the calls subsided, they was stupid enough to always ring with the details of any reload, when a txt would of been better , best way was all phones either off or on silent

Tell them you are in the bar because it is your rest period, you are just opening a third bottle of wine and will ring when we wake up. Night night

don’t have a hissy fit. it’s commonly known as a joke.
It would really ■■■■ us off , as more often than not it would be daylight, and during the summer the sun would be beating down the cab would become like an oven(no aircon fitted) plus the environmental noise of where you happened to park up (mostly MSA’s over the water) so getting some ZZ’s was hard enough without them ringing ya,
But there should be some thing in place so that they can’t take the ■■■■ if the feel like it

Really? I’d never have guessed. Magnet jokes are a bit tired to say the least.

There is, its the off switch or silent on the phone. My truck phone goes on silent when I go to bed. And if you dont want to disturb your break dont answer the phone.
If you’re on break and the boss rings■■? I thought this was what ‘voicemail’ was for. Either leave it to ring, silence the ringer (usually by pressing the volume-down button on the phone) or abort the call (red hang up button) if you’ve VM setup. If you don’t it’ll just drop the call.
Voicemail for the win!
I have a two way radio is that still two hours. Although I very rarely stay in the can on break so it doesn’t realy matter.

Used to have this on the buses. If you don’t reply they don’t know you’ve received the message. Unless you’ve got a new digital system with perhaps handshaking encryption and the remote confirmation trigger available on the setup…

For anyone who does this, did you know if you turn off the phone your alarm will still work
Are you all being serious■■?
