Boss phones you on break, add 2 hours

kr79:
I have a two way radio is that still two hours. Although I very rarely stay in the can on break so it doesn’t realy matter.

I’ve got a 2-way radio too; If the company running the bagging plant bother me just as breaktime approaches or when they can see I’m busy they get ignored, or I’ll say “just coming” and sod off for my break…great when it’s ■■■■■■■ down with rain and they’re stood around waiting :smiling_imp:

Essexboy:
Are you all being serious■■?
:unamused: :unamused:

I think so …

But there should be some thing in place so that they can’t take the ■■■■ if the feel like it

There is, its the off switch or silent on the phone. My truck phone goes on silent when I go to bed. And if you dont want to disturb your break dont answer the phone.

For anyone who does this, did you know if you turn off the phone your alarm will still work :bulb:

Not on I phone god knows why. Proper pain in the arse.

If I put my HTC on silent, it also affects the alarm clock, like I found out earlier when I set it for 13:30 and I actually got up at 18:30

It’s classed as a POA.

Pacifying Office ■■■■■■■.

This rumour was all over europe years ago,but has anyone else heard of it,you are on a 45 min break, the boss disturbs you, then you can add two hours for your break, the same for a daily rest if he rings you up.

I just put my phones on silent my breaks my time not my bosses

My phone allows me to switch the network off yet leave the ringer on, and also switch the network off yet leave wifi on, which is also helpful

Personally I wouldnt be such a baby about it. I’d just answer the call, wouldn’t care if it was in the middle of the night or my day off. What’s the big deal? Some people are pure ignorant to their employers, no wonder some say they can’t find work and get a hard time in a job, if people are going to act like ignorant pricks they deserve to be treated like an ignorant pricks.

And some employers are ignorant pricks who’d just take the ■■■■ some other way. If you’re not paid for your break wtf should you deal with work issues?

So you have just done a 15 hour day, got 9 hours rest prior to next start and some clerk calls you up … wakes you out of your sleep etc when your not getting paid, my days off are just that not worked related why the [zb] should i answer my phone!

I guess that Sammys boss wouldn’t object to getting out of bed at silly o’clock to answer Sammys phone calls either.

+1.
i’ve often had a chat with the boss on my day off, we are usually both ■■■■■■ and need to discuss politics. it’s what people do when they’re drunk.
if i worked for stobarts, i’d expect to have the opportunity to put the world to rights. tinkler would be drinking bollingers, and i’d be on 90cents a bottle acid. but the outcome would be the same.
plenty of BS, and loss of memory.

Often had to ring my gaffer when I know he’s not in work that the nature of the job. And have got woke up because somebody was looking for paperwork that was left with a trailer, doesn’t bother me, just like sleeping with a running fridge not ideal but part of the job.
Some drivers on here would want to cop on and realise if they want to be truckers they have to take what goes hand in hand with driving a lorry, this job is and never has been like any other job out there. Too many drivers giving out about MSAs, sleeping near fridges etc. if they don’t like it go get a job stacking the shelves in tesco. Maybe I’m just lucky to work for a decent company but maybe if drivers weren’t such arses to office staff they might get an easier life in return.
