Bookers / Xpo Livingston

Morning folks
Anyone had to tip here recently .
Heard pretty poor reports on firstly tipping times and also how they treat visiting drivers.
2-3 hour waiting time
Also taking keys off drivers and making them sit in a room with other drivers and even there own drivers.
Hoping with the pandemic going on I’m not subject to a room full of other drivers for 2-3 hours not knowing there health issues.
Can handle the 2-3 hour wait ( that’s bad enough ) but bearable chilling in my own cab.
Thanks in advance

So it’s no different to a supermarket RDC.

If you’ve been vaccinated against the Covid there’s really no concern being in a room with other drivers.

Over the whole 18 month pandemic period
I have yet to have to room with other drivers.
Always back to the cab having handed keys in .
Had one vaccine jab awaiting number 2 .

Bookers at Wellingborough it’s hand keys in and back to the cab
As is all the Asda’s and Sainsbury’s I’ve been to

After Covid? This is here for years!

Can’t speak for fridges, but if it’s run of the mill ambient stuff you just wait in a queue in your cab.
If you want to sit in the crappy little wait room for your notes after you tip, then crack on, some do, , but you don’t have to, I never have, I just go in when I think they have had time to do them.

Is it Booker or Iceland you are delivering to? Booker has moved and is now located within Tesco’s RDC at Livingston? Not sure about Iceland but Tesco is hand in paperwork, place keys in box and back to sit in motor until tipped.

Has it really?
When was that?
I was last there about 4 or 5 weeks ago.

Moved in the last month or so. Tesco built a big extension on their RDC to house them. I might be mistaken and they might still be doing some stuff from the Iceland site but I think the plan is for the whole lot to be housed at Tesco. All the drives have been moved from XPO to Tesco contracts as far as I know. All units and trailers housed at Tesco now too.

Even after you’ve been vaccinated you can still catch the virus and still pass it on !

I have been there three times in the last three weeks, the last time was Thursday afternoon. Can’t speak for ambient deliveries but for frozen you report to goods in, get allocated a bay, back onto it, push the button on the wall to turn the light red, take your keys back to goods in and drop them into a Costa cup (Covid doncha know), go back to your lorry and about an hour later you get a green light, collect keys and paperwork and leave.

Yeah I mean once the initial furore has gone and we’ve passed “freedom day” or whatever it is the bunch of ■■■■■ in charge are calling it.

None of the vaccines stop you getting the virus, they simply drastically reduce the chances of severe illness or death (Google “does the vaccine stop you catching covid” to check). The vaccine also reduces, but does not stop, the chance of you passing it on to others, which is why masks are likely to be around for a long time. Covid will never go away completely, which is why the next step will be the introduction of annual booster injections. I would still be wary about going into a crowded room with a load of unknown people, possibly from high-risk Covid areas.

Hopefully the pandemic has demonstrated that drivers staying in the cab without keys hasn’t resulted in a spate of vehicles leaving bays with warehouse staff on board the trailer. You would think that this would set up a situation where there is a new normal of the waiting rooms not being compulsory, but I wouldn’t count on it.

You can sure as hell bet that amongst the tens of thousands of successful deliveries, you will have got ONE absolute f/whit who knocked his handbrake off or something,.and that one incident will be done to death as an example, to be used to maintain their previous bloody stupid rules.

Once the “new normal” is achieved mate you can bet your house on us being herded into holding cells again. Why? Ostensibly they’ll trot out the old H&S bullshine, the reality is it’s all about control. Under employed middle managers obsess about being seen to be doing something, anything, to justify their salary. They also love to demonstrate their control over others too.

The latest example of them desperately trying to exert control is “you can sit in your vehicle, but must remain in the passenger side”. I was told this and asked why? “Site rules mate” I was told, “yeah I get that, but can you tell me exactly the reason for it?” The closest to an answer I’ve ever received is “so you don’t release your handbrake “ Hmm, have you seen where my handbrake is situated?

You are correct
Just collected notes for delivery tomorrow and the address is Booker Carnegie road so I presume that it’s in with Tesco.
So hopefully like you hand notes in and back in the cab. ( ambient goods on board )
Was it a touch screen entry to get on site or a hitler with a uniform.
Thanks in advance
