BMW drivers. Are they all nutters?

I would hate to pre-judge anyone or categorise certain road users…but… I will.

I find that most BMW drivers drive like absolute egits and that every time I see one overtake me I get defensive and expect there to be an accident further up the road. Is there any data to suggest that more accidents involve this brand on vehicle?

My other observation is that square cars with solid body colours (like dog c0ck red) also get my spidi sensors tingling

I’m new to this game so maybe I’m being over sensitive :grimacing:

Mostly yes. But they are rank amateurs compared to Audi drivers.

They are the ultimate bellends.

Thanks for that EagerB, have just bought an A6

I drive a red BMW 330i

It’s lovely , electric everything, leather, quick and not to bad on fuel.

Cheap as well . Great place to sit after a long shift.

Bamblemash, you are right, I have noticed that Bmw and Audi drivers are ones I look out for, always black or silver cars that get up to peacock displays .
Have you noticed that any make or model of car ,will be black or silver, will not have its lights on before sun rise and after sun set ?
Everyone is flashing at them but they carry on regardless in cloud cuckoo land .
Don’t forget, a lot of expensive cars can be leased, hired or financed so some do not own them .

I disagree with this statement that all BMW drivers are all nutters, I drive a 330d and a 325i, both fantastic cars, in which, ok I don’t hang about in, but I do drive in a sensible and controlled manor.

I don’t think you can brand a driver of a particular make of car as Nutters! Although I am not a truck driver, I do have the upmost respect for you guys, and will move over to let you guys out of lay-bys and join on the slip roads on my daily commute along the A14.

as I have said, I commute daily along the A14 between Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich in a van, and some days I find it intolerable. The standards of driving by the vast majority of people, many of whom are in Audi’s or VW’s, but a lot of Fords and Vauxhall’s too, beggars belief, but I had this total idiot in a Toyota on Thursday morning who really ■■■■■■ me off. My van is restricted to 68 mph and is tracked. I was over taking a line of 3 container trucks heading for Felixstowe and the prat in the Toyota who was nowhere to be seen when I pulled out to over take, starts flashing his lights and hooting his horn whilst driving about 3 foot off my rear bumper. Then when he over took me he sticks his fingers up and makes hand gestures at me. But I’m sure a lot of you guys get this sort of behaviour from car drivers regularly.

It’s a sorry state of affairs that the world is coming too, everyone been impatient and intolerant towards everyone else on the road.

So what I’m really getting at is that it’s not fair to brand a driver of a particular make of car, and then Tar them all with same brush. It doesn’t matter what make of car it is, it’s the idiot behind the wheel whose the Nutter!

I buy BMW’s because I like the brand, the quality engineering, and the overall pleasure from the driving experience. If you haven’t driven one, then I suggest you give one ago!

Thanks for the recommend, just SWMBO to convince now. Always hankered after a 7 series, but never had the spare to buy one. No kids at home now though…

I drive a 750iL…

It has no mirrors at all, that makes it even faster.

Inidicators? Seeing as I do actually own the road, why should I bother telling anyone on it what I’m about to do next?

poofy lorry drivers

Wife has had two cars written off after being hit by BMW’s that failed to slow down at junctions. She had stopped for other traffic, they didnt!
Along with most other performance type saloon cars, I think it is just that they are driven in a more ‘spirited’ manner by their owners. They have the power and use it. Trouble is many of those dont know how to use it properly!

It’s not the fault of the brand of car, it’s the driver behind the wheel!

It probably wouldn’t have made any difference weather these people were driving a BMW, or a Peugeot, when they crashed int your wife. They clearly weren’t consentrating on the road ahead. Probably on their mobile phone or lighting a cigarette.

My driving style doesn’t change weather I’m driving one of my BMW’s, my wife’s Nissan, or the companies VW Van. I’m the driver, I’m in control.

It’s down to the descisions and control of the individual driving the car to weather they make a good or bad driver, not the make of car they drive.

at least Audi have the common decency to put four cockrings across the grille to warn you of the contents of the vehicle

Scannies with a V8 neon all lit up in the rear of the cab, instinctively you know the driver could be a few kilos short of being fully freighted. Best get off the road when you see one coming.

I call it “the ambition/ability inequality”. Where people buy these high performance vehicles and think their driving ability increase is proportional to the cost. Same with 4×4 drivers. Sadly the reverse appears to be true.
However, once you realise this, you can at least prepare yourself for the cockwombleness you are about to witness.
My greatest fear is the Nissan Micra. Usually driven by an old biddy who grips the steering wheel like she’s on a roller coaster whilst peering through it at the windscreen (and only the windscreen, side windows and mirrors don’t exist in her steel bubble). Sticking ardently to 50mph regardless of traffic or road conditions and oblivious to all other road users. Truly terrifying.

Ive said it before on another thread, but isnt this another example of the Dunning/Kruger Effect?
People`s (mis)perceptions of their own abilities?

good adice there my man.pull in at the 1st save opperchancity and let the nice man pass thereby leaving you with a set of mirrors to continue your own journey with…there is always the odd exception to the rule though…black mans wheels /audi tend to be bad as they are good driving cars for belting around in…same for ugly fat women driving x5 or anything resembling a chelsea tractor…(you seldom see a dolly bird driving one) they seldome park anywhere unless they can drive in frontwards and hogg 2 parking spaces at asdas, you will never see a ( gentleman from pakistan or associated enviroments) (isnt the auto censor a bollox) …anyhooo…one of them driving a landrover or rangerover as that is about as scarce as a dead donkey, misses myopic with here tunnel vision micra oblivious to all except 5 yards directly in front of her, nowadays if you even see a car broken down at the side of the motorway, its 90% odds on there will be 5 sets of eyes and teeth hanging around it as thats all you see unless its daytime.so some cars have stereotype pilots with the odd exception here and there.plod cars and hato wannabees seem to al work from the same script completely up their own backsides with as much sense of perspective as a cabbage wearing a hiviz,so horses for courses??

BMW used to be the choice of the nobhead driver. I’ve noticed in recent years that they have now moved on to Audi. 9 out of 10 times my frustrations are caused by Audi drivers.

Range Rover sports are almost guaranteed to be driven by someone with a big ego and no resect for anyone on the road other than themselves. usually under 5’ 6" too.

I drive a Merc, I’m awesome.

Short answer to op’s question is: Yes.

BMW drivers
(particularly blue M3s for some reason…)

Audi drivers
(as one earlier poster said, they seem to have become the new car of choice for nobheads/impatient pr1cks)

Uber drivers
(almost every single taxi I see with one of those ugly “UBER” signs plastered over the back window doesn’t seem to have a bloody clue what’s going on around them)

I’ve learned to give them all 3 of these a very wide berth. They almost always act as badly as I predict them to.

Lexus drivers seem to be somewhat “older”.
