Key less ignition. Auto Didn’t know how to start it.
Switches around the hazard cluster that I didn’t recognise.
Speed limit that I could not get to work.
Break retarder that when used went from gear 12 down to gear 9 into the yellow band.
A bouncy drivers seat that I could not dampen or even lower. Every time i let the air out it just returned back to a high position. My feet could just touch the top of the pedals.

not necessarily tragic, it could be designed to work that way. I know my Scania is. Have a look and see if there is a you tube video from Mercedes Training.
This is serious advice. It sounds like a newish vehicle, in which case it probably has a manual somewhere in it. I’ve pointed features out about vehicles that drivers have been driving for months that they didn’t know about as they’d never bothered reading the manual. It’s all in there for you.

To get the speed limiter to work you have to switch from cruise control mode to speed limiter mode. Press the button with LIM on it then press SET. Unlike cruise control you can both set and adjust this while stationary.

This is exactly what it’s designed to do. Engine brakes, or Compression release/Jake brakes if you prefer work by releasing compression from inside the engine. This release slows the engine down which in turn slows the vehicle down. Compression is higher the higher the revs. So the higher the revs the higher the braking force.

The bounce is controlled at the front of the seat right behind where your left knee is. The height adjuster is right next to your right thigh.
Great advice . and a new kind of level controller. Red lights green lights. Will read that manual.
Used the in cab level control in the end but it takes some getting used to instead of the control at the drivers side seat.
Also I would had thought that the retarder knocking the gears right down to the yellow band would give me a rubbish fuel figure and show up that I’m not driving this vehicle correctly

No fuel is being used it’s being sent back to the tank just don’t let it go into the red obviously.

I think the ‘gears to go brakes to slow’ companies fail to realise that fuel is actually being saved when engine braking instead of incorrectly assuming it’s being wasted to rev the engine.

On Fleetboard, the telematics system used by Mercedes, the biggest factor that affects your score is use of the footbrake. The only way to decrease footbrake use is to use the engine brake and that involves revving the ■■■■ off the engine.
Don’t worry about it though, I’ve got 9.6 out of 10 for engine usage on my score sheet and I use this as often as possible.

One look at the manual would tell them otherwise.
As said above, the fuel supply is cut off when engine braking.

You can also control the suspension by using the steering wheel buttons.
I had to use a 2014 Actros yesterday for the first time. The night before I had a quick look at youtube and there was a mercedes video on the actros controls.
It would have taken a while finding out all the button, even how to adjust the steering wheel, without it.
A few people I know (including myself) dump the air out of the seat and drive it like that.
The hard/soft setting doesn’t exist, Mercedes think everyone wants the same setting. Press the button on the front of the off side RIGHT IN, then it will dump or go up, don’t just press it a bit!
Put the keyless thing in the hole, give it a light touch, that will be the equivalent of having a normal key turned to the 1 position, give it another touch and the ignition comes on, push it right in to start/stop it.
I wouldn’t worry too much with the limiter thing, unless you drive around town a lot, just set it to the maximum speed you want to go. if you press the top button on the right hand side of the steering wheel, it will switch from limiter to cruise control, you can tell by the dash which setting you have.
I pulled the brake lever down onto the 3rd setting and it said on the computer something like ’ you are going too fast for this to work’!!! It is crap on any setting tbh.
Can’t think what switches are around the hazard lights, as I’ve only been driving one for 3 weeks, a 64 plate 510, and it hasn’t got a lot of poke in it, and I’ve slept on more comfortable floors than the bed in it.
Totally agree about the bed Kindle530 ,Mercedes “comfort” mattress…ha ha
I have put a self-inflating mattress gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-exp … at-p287157 under mine and it’s totally transformed it tbh,nearly as good as a Daf.
The switches round the hazard switch is the lift axle controls (if you’ve got a 6x2) suspension level button, reverse beeper silence button and the ones at the far left with the exhaust symbol are to either do a forced re-gen of the DPF or cancel a re-gen that is already taking place.
And I’m sure the button for rocking mode is also there too as is the hill hold function.
Here’s all the seat controls. Pretty sure it’s 13 for suspension stiffness but it might be 11. Can’t be 100% without being in the cab. Either way it’s deffo behind your knees.
