Biker video

Only just seen this…and with a teer in my eyes I hope the biker got a decent ride in heaven. Rip fellow biker.

I think we’re all agreed there were mistakes on both sides.

I won’t pontificate through it all (yet!) again, suffice to say that I think we can all learn something from this kind of situation.

No matter who you are or what you drive/ride there are several thousand deaths on the roads every year that could happen to any one of us. To paraphrase John Bradford, ‘There but for the grace of God go I’.

RIP fella.

I think he’s touched a few people during his time on this planet

RIP to the biker.

Looking at those two pics and one of the things that struck me was that they appear to be all wearing helmets.

I would have thought that there might have been some riding without as a mark of respect?

Apart from riding slower, how can a biker avoid accidents like this??

Ditch the bike, and never ride them again - like I did after a near-fatal bike accident in 1988… :frowning:

Bikes are to big a risk these days, far to many car driving ■■■■ heads about that are in la-la land most of the time as proved in this sad incident.
I know personally about half a dozen people over the years that have had life changing injuries from them and one who was killed.

Pathetic :open_mouth: So we’ll just forget he was doing 97 mph then :unamused: :unamused:
Don’t get it mate :unamused: :unamused:

I know several that have had friends and family seriously injured or killed too. But in cars, not on bikes. So are cars too big a risk too?

I also know of bikers that have ridden for many years, without so much as a scratch… (myself being one of them.)

No, but it tends to hurt / smash bones / kill abit more when it goes pear shaped on a bike!

Kin ell, not again!
I already berated the fact that the guy on the bike was abit of a fool and a ■■■■■■ for doing 97 mph a couple of pages ago! :unamused:  and got flamed for that and got told that it would have been the same outcome if he’d been doing 60 instead of 97! :unamused:
The driver in the car was also abit of a ■■■■■■ for pulling out infront of him! Or don’t you think?
Maybe he was totally blameless, TBH, I don’t really give a ■■■■.

It does.

But, firstly dead is dead. There is no ‘worse’ dead. Injury wise, yes, it can be worse. But there is risk attached to a lot of things we do in life. It’s about stacking the odds in your favour.

Most people that ride motorcycles spend a lot more time driving their car than riding their bikes. So, although on a bike your risk factor is higher, if you’re doing it a lot less, the exposure time is much less.

Bikers getting a big hammering in the DM comments

dailymail.co.uk/news/article … agony.html

Really…you amaze me!

90% Motorbike for doing 97mph along that road at that time of day is just asking for trouble and 10% for the driver, because he should have at least seen him even if he couldn’t do anything to avoid the accident.

Sumsmeister:
With a bike coming directly towards you and traffic behind, it’s more difficult to judge the bikes speed and to pick him out. My opinion is that the car driver was assuming all the traffic coming towards him was doing the same speed and made the judgement that he had enough space to make his manoeuvre.
I’m a biker and go out with the attitude that as fun as it is, I want to come back and do it all again tomorrow, so I ride close to the speed of traffic around me and even on a clear bit I ride to conditions.
It is brilliant flashing along, having fun doing crucifixes on hills and that sort of thing and it’s a shame David isn’t still riding. RIP, mate.

Riding a bike these days has got to be even more dangerous than joining the army.

Lawrence of Arabia found that out the hard way as well. :frowning:

I can’t ride a bike, I haven’t read the other posts, I appreciate everyone can’t be as paranoid as me but if I was on that bike I wouldn’t be going fast where someone by their action could ram me. That’s the only pre requisite for riding a bike if you ask me. All this weaving through traffic ■■■■ is lunacy. I’d just chill in traffic so you don’t get rammed.

Anyway, RIP dude. You seemed like a pleasant fellow, god bless & help your mum in her hour of need.

Anyone wana hazard a guess at how fast this loony toons was going on his crotch rocket?
I was doing around 40, 50 mph limit road.

They’re all out there mate.
