Big Money

Abramovich is the very wealthy owner of Chelski football club. Not sure how anyone doesn’t know that but not everyone has an interest in football.

Playing high and mighty to all on here when you aren’t actually driving yet will not go down well. I’ve been driving “C” for about 2 months, every week day, with some weekends and unless you have been super lucky, like has been said, HGV and £££’s don’t go together.

As for the doubling the 86 hours, you’ll be lucky. We all want to drive for a living. Unfortunately, that has been cut short with bureautic(sp) crap and nonsense. I’d be happy “driving” 10 hours a day but a) the job I have doesn’t allow that and b) the law doesn’t allow it(everyday)

If it’s really what you want to do, then great, go for it, give it your all and work your arse off, just don’t go loud mouthing. We have all been in the same situation. Some a lot longer ago. And don’t count the older drivers out! As a younger newbie, I’d be lost without the wisdom and the help of the older wiser ladies and gentlemen that I have encountered so far!

All in all, good luck.

I haven’t been bad mouthing anyone, I just don’t like some of the knobish answers I have got on here due to my posy there was no need for it, yes there are many nice truckers out there but the ones who have replied bar a couple have been idiots and obviously concerned on how thing’s are changing… I wouldn’t disrespect anyone until they do it to me first.

Thank you Iceman1 no harm done fella

There are company’s out there that pay good money. But until you get 1 or 2 years experience under your belt, I very much dought they will give you a chance, especially as most driver’s are after well payed jobs.
To me, if you have been driving a van for 4 years, you may as well get your artic licence plus cpc (unless you find a firm who are willing to pay), start real driving, and work you way up.
But don’t expect to be earning big money unless you get lucky. Driving is a life style not a get rich earning big money.
Good luck with c and c+e training.

Define big money

Terry T:
Define big money

If he can send 500 emails and get a job paying £28000 for a 50 hour week class 2 then £60000 should be easy for him with class 1, but he still had to come on here to ask what jobs pay.

There are big money jobs out there but most are word of mouth.
From the way you’ve spoken to some on here I’d be surprised if anyone who knows of these jobs would give you the time of day to tell you who/how to get them.
Maybe the interpretation is lost through the keyboard but if you get as highly agitated driving as you do on a forum I think your ‘career’ may be short lived.

Sorry to jump onto someone else’s thread but I am looking at a career change. I know it will be hard at first but for me it’s stable income I want for the family. I have saved up a few thousand to do class 1 and adr hopefully. What are the expected hourly pay for cat c first and then cat c and e?

I know I’m not going to be earning 50k a year but a decent standard of living for the bills as what I am looking for. Can this be achieved? Just worried when one post said working for peanuts.

Thanks for the help

go on job sites and look at advertised jobs in your area. 19-25k I guess, then more for agency work.

the big moneys a job your not gonna be able to get lol

Hi stranger

Language please Timothy

To get the big money jobs which are very rare you have to know someone & then not guaranteed as driving & big money dont go together although they are improving slightly

Still waiting for a definition of big money :grimacing:

For class 1 i was looking around and hoping that somewhere along the lines of 12 - 14 pound an hour. enough as a decent wage. is this realistic?

cheers

No.

As a full-timer doing class 1 expect between minimum wage and £9/hr, dependent on your location (which is… ?). £12-14/hr is pie in the sky for weekday work for 99.9% of full-timer drivers. Those rates are doable as a s/e or ltd co driver but you’d probably need to do a bit of palm greasing and always have a pocket full of change for the coffee machine if you wanted to get regular work at those rates. Of course an impeccable driving record and a ‘can do’ attitude in response to anything that is asked of you goes without saying, too.

Forget ADR. The extra pound an hour is not worth the hassle of having to get dressed up like Michelin Man, nor all the extra paperwork and H&S bull.

Thanks, so is it worth doing a change of career then?

Seems pretty low what you have quoted compared to some job sites I have seen. I am in scotland. Falkirk.
