For some unknown reason my Photobucket account has “gone down the pan” so I’ve probably posted my last shot Oh! do I hear wild cheering from the Welsh Borders
Anyway,I’ve had a good run for a number of years and have managed to post about half of my Bewick photo archive over that time so I’ll just be a contributor “in writing” from now on,Oh! is that “wailing and knashing of teeth” I hear from the Welsh Borders" Cheers Bewick.

Evening Dennis,i have just watched (i have no idea why) Eddie Stobarts whatever they call it on c5,i just wondered if you could have picked up some tips on road transport when you were in business if they had shown this series then. Maybe giving each of your lorries girls names may have brought in more profit or employing jolly drivers may have been an advantage over the competion, btw the picture of the F registered Atki is pure nostalgia ,brilliant
Thanks for the kind comment about the Atki,it really was a sweet motor,smooth as silk However,I stopped watching Tom and Jerry cartoons many years ago so I do not intend to change the habit in my later years,I’ve never watched the “fast eddie” cartoon either so I can’t comment but if you have been reduced to watching said cartoon I think you may require some serious therapy “ramone”( like a crack with a bit of "three by two
)

No sense of humour blockage Bewick, just couldn’t understand why you think there would be cheering from the Welsh Borders, because your photo bucket account is playing up. A most odd and strange comment to make

I’ve seen this shot before on this site,these two Fell motors had both left the fleet before Bewick Transport bought the firm out in June '76 and I would say this shot taken at Keele Services would be circa '74 or '75.The foremost one in shot was driven by Lenny Richards and this unit was written off in a bad accident in Bristol,the other one was driven by the late Alf Bellamy and was replaced with a new Sed/Atk Sleeper in Dec '75.Both the ERF’s were the model( LV?) prior to the A Series being launched in late '72 or was it early '73 ?.However,Alf and Lenny were the two best drivers at Fells and they really came into their own and “shone” when they were properly managed and fed with all the traffic they could handle,and boy could these two Lads get through some work and cover the miles,we fitted them up with new F88’s,Lenny in Sept '76 and Alf in Jan '77.The only critisism I ever had was that niether of them were first class sheeter and ropers but most of their trailers were loaded by our shunters,apart from the pulp loads,ex port, they did themselves.Oh! and we had to try and hold Alf “back a bit” as his idea of a late start was 4 am !! Great lads though,they don’t make 'em like that anymore Cheers Dennis.
We had an “H”- reg. A-series, Dennis. I had the second, which was on a “J”- plate. Thought I was King of the Road with that, with it’s 180 Gardner after driving a 150.

Obviously I don’t know what the exact model of ERF you had ROF,but one thing I am sure of it defo wasn’t an “A” Series
Cheers Dennis.
Could be mistaken, Dennis, but we always thought of them as “A”-series. Green painted inside cab, wood-look dashboard inserts, small toggle switch on right-hand side of dash for indicators, with h/light flasher above it. Some more knowledgeable than I will put me right. Wish I’d been as prolific as you with the camera!

Would it have been this model ERF you called "A"Series ROF,I know what you mean about the features you describe which I can best describe as ERF,at the period you describe, morphing towards the new “A” Series being launched in 72/73,IIRC these pre “A” Series tractors had the underslung rear springs mainly as a result of using the Kirkstall BDR axle,the “A” Series mainly used the Kirkstall D85 HR axle,as well as the Eaton 2 speed on the 180LXB/DB 6:600 driveline.As you say some of the more knowledgable lads will fully explain ( John Stanfield ) Regarding all the photos I took over many years I never really imagined that modern technology would have developed to such an extent to what we have to-day,I just took them for my own archive,I never smoked so you could say they cost me no more than if I had smoked 20 or thirty ■■■■ a day
Cheers Dennis.

I’ll try and find the conversation on Facebook that describes what an A series is, not all the erfs with that grill, as u and me take as being an A series are. From what I could remember, an A series as the chassis through the front, like them fell ones, I think. I’ll go find the conversation like I said and copy and paste it, oh and good evening mr bewick and everyone, how rude of. Me
