Beware of being Gassed

raymundo:
Why Toby ? because some of you are !!
I posted the full account of what happened to me and another crew member in full when the subject cropped three or so years or so ago so have no intention in doing so again but I know what happened and so does he. There was no alcohol consumed prior to the incident and if the said incident were a load of crap why would the Dutch river police call a doctor immediately and actually have two turn up within about ten minutes and after tests confirm that we HAD been drugged and that there had been an alarming rise in the number of times this was happening around the ports. But what do those doctors and the police know, they should be on this forum to get all the correct answers from the ‘knowitalls’ who can ‘copy an paste’. You have a theory, I have the facts. End of !!
I hope you enjoy your next bike ride, dinner with the mayor and screwing his daughter afterwards.

The trouble is Ray, that Chemistry is a well understood science. You may remember the Periodic Table from school. This lists all known elements, but there are gaps in the Periodic Table because some elements have yet to be discovered. When they are discovered, we know exactly what their qualities will be, based on elements already discovered.

None of these are, or will be “knockout gas”. I’m not going to speculate on the cause of your mishap (which I read about at the time) but unless the Joker or the Penguin or anyone else from a 1960’s Batman programme attacked you, then they wouldn’t have been using “knockout gas” because it doesn’t exist and never will.

My Chemistry teacher at school died from inhaling Diethyl Ether vapour. His body was found in the lab prep room at school the next morning, him face down in a lab coat still reeking of ether.
It was considered at the time that he could not have done this “accidentally”, so a verdict of “Suicide” was recorded.

It is bloody hard to adminster any noxious substance over dozens of cases around the country without someone having died from an ineptly applied version of said attack in the time since.

When you rule out the impossible, what remains - no matter how improbable - must be the truth.

Diethyl Ether is best known as an anasthetic - not a “poison gas maker”.
I always thought my chemistry teacher might have died from a lab spill that he overlooked the dangers in trying to mop up himself in the confined space of a 5x18’ preproom. The coroner thought different, despite the fact that in a chemistry lab - one would have thought a Msc in Chemistry would get to trump a medical doctor with expertise more akin to pathology, which needn’t include toxicology, which may well have been deferred out to some chinese chum of his…

I think it was the Joker or Penguin that got him.

The next starter for ten is:

WHAT were the chemicals that when applied as cosmetics - caused a fatal blend to the victim?

(Batman 1)

This is a toughie, since most chemicals that have a deadly effect as reaction products - are NOT harmless as their two seperate constituents.

Eg. you don’t put Sugar in Tea and get Cyanide. allegedly. :smiling_imp:
