Riverstick:
It’s only a matter of time before the Police crash their truck in a ‘high speed pursuit’…Then the Commissioner will be asked awkward questions about the common sense of policemen/women speeding up and down the roads in trucks as their flagship Police truck sits on top of a car and its occupants…
Why on earth do you think they would crash it??
Its not used in any form of persuites and probably never exceeds 65mph

a lot of them are very high powered units with no trailer.
Trucks dont handle like cars.
I reckon once winter sets in we’ll see at least one go backwards off the road.
AHT:
So your sayig its impossible to drive a unit with no trailer and not crash?
When the driver is simply a pig with a HGV license and trying to push it on beyond 56, I see it as inevitable
Why abusive?
Do you think we all kept to 56mph in the days before limiters, i won’t admit what speeds we used to run at in times gone by, empty, loaded or tractor only, suffice to say it was considerbly more than many cars of the day could reach, somehow we managed to do it for years on end without mishap and before the seemingly indispensible traction aids and other rubbish became the norm.
moomooland: I think truck drivers have become an obsession with this guy Angus, and also being a regular feature on Traffic Cops it has all gone to his head. If i was his superiors i would be asking is the hire of a top of the range tractor unit, along with the running costs, really a necessity when drastic cuts are being implemented in other sections of the police force. May be the new local police commissioner will look into it and have some input in stopping the star struck prat joyriding up and down the M5 and get him to do some proper police work.
I’m sure the amount of truckers he catches texting the wife and watching Eddie Stobart Trucks and Trailers whilst they’re driving more than makes up for his salary.
I hope this helps.
Problem is some of the drivers have been texting Angus’s wife
ROG:
Is the unit used for entering LGV parking areas covertly in order to try and catch load thieves ?
If I was a thief in a truck park then a small vehicle entering would get my attention but a lorry entering would seem normal
That is indeed the main idea behind it, however some people cant take the blinkers off and get in the real world, Police are around to help the genrall public including truck drivers
Whatever the reason for the police lorry,I don’t think it’s to do with load thefts/curtain slashing etc.at lorry parks.I just think PC Nairn, expeirenced as he undoubtedly is does not seem to be the perfect role model.Does he know all the dodges from his own ‘misdemeanours’ ? Poacher turned Gamekeeper-that’s my reason for not liking his smug, righteous persona.

Well, I thought about this and if a knackered transit went into an MSA truck park, people would come out of the shadows and say “psst, give us a hand here, mate”

Exactly that, he’s got a new job and decided to brown-nose his new employer by grassing up his ex-workmates.
I bet it’s all young uns on this thread that think the filth do a spiffing job of keeping naughty villains, that endanger us all, on the straight and narrow.
Give 'em a few decades and a few more encounters with the police and they’ll soon change their tune.
‘Miss, miss, that naughty trucker is on his mobile and it’s against the law’…yawn.
Traffic officer catches a HGV driver breaking the law and people get the hump!
As for useing his radio,
Imagine this, someone has just broken into your house and assulted a loved one, they make thier getaway in a car and the police give chase.
Would you not want the police to use thier radio to call for re enforcements/help in catching them.
The driver in the video who got caught got given a corse instead of points because he had a clean licence, I think thats very fair.

No, someone breaks into your house and assaults a loved one because the filth are dicking around playing lorry driver - that’s why people have got the hump.

If you regard catching lorry drivers who are texting or holding a mobile phone to their ear as ‘dicking around’, maybe you should tell that to the family of Paul Hammond.

If the police did not have to ‘■■■■ around’ catching hgv drivers breaking the law, then maybe they could spend more time on the streets…
As stated in the video, they so far have found £1.5mil worth of stolen goods and half a mils worth of drugs, so, imo, a good effort.
TBH, I get fed up with people constantly slagging off the police, in all the years of driving I have only ever had 1 negitive experience with the police. Good and bad in all jobs including the police and hgv drivers.
I for one am fed up seeing hgv drivers on thier poxy phones.
