Betz wants Brits!

Is that Kate, as in Blackadder Kate?

Never judge a book by its cover

The marketing people (nearly said man!) at the publishers might be a little hurt by that.

Try Moto @ Thurrock on a weekend - its an education!!

Did you know, Betz driver’s are only getting paid when the wheel’s are turning and they’re parked up weeks at a time waiting for work, also there is a test case pending against Betz , where the T & G is asking for eastern european drivers working in the uk to be paid the minium wage. I think most people will know Wiii Betz as a user of low paid eastern european labour.

Yes, Willi Betz use SOMAT AG and Georgian Expidition agency are employ to bulgarian drivers, all bulgarian drivers are not belong to Willi Betz, they r belong SOMAT AG and Georgian Expidition agency. I have been talk to Willi Betz Reutlingen head office, they told me, they pay to Bulgarian betz drivers - low wage but they are happy because Betz drivers job is better paid than other bulgaria transport firm. I have heard they do paid on moving the wheel not parking up for weekend or few days. Rumour - they have been parking up and wait the return loads for week! but facts i have not seen betz trucks stay parking more than 3 days not one week!

Ben.

Been there done that. Have also been weekended on an MSA on foreign soil myself, many many times. And I know how it feels to be looked at like I was something that had been stepped in, simply beacuse I was the foreigner, with a foreign registered truck, fed up and far from home. Treated with contempt by people who think they are better than me, but why , I just don’t know.

The only place abroad I hate with a passion is the Elf @ Calais.

Always been treated okay everywhere else on mainland Europe (apart from border control at Hungary pre their join up, and the Romania border).

Feeling like a foreigner at Thurrock or Clacketts is a bad thing, in my opinion. And when you can’t even park to take a 45 because of foreign trucks hanging around for loads — then I think that’s a bad thing too! And being bullied by foreign trucks on the M20, well that’s bad as well!

The Kate/Bob thing — blame it on Curtis/Atkinson

And the other Willi Betz drivers get paid just short of £9 an hour, and get paid when they are parked in our yard. Ive never seen anyone parked there for weeks either :stuck_out_tongue:

…and Stobarts are running bent…and Nobby Distresstriangle’s buying his own ferry…and my mate got coned off for 9 hours on a Tesco loading bay…and Irish fridges have steel under the hanging meat…and…

Willi Betz is recruiting UK driver’s. Do you live near to Shenstone in Staffordhire, or Newport Pagnell. If so, you could be “lucky” and drive for the German haulier. Wages are £8 hr for 40 hrs per week + ot, or £10hr night time. This is working on the Toyota contract. Also you can expect a nice blue Merc

Its the likes of him thats killed the industry and now you are gonna go and work for him!! Perhaps if he couldnt get the drivers , he may lose the work   and an English firm may get it!!  Think about it!

But at least the uk company, has insisted on uk drivers.
All that i have stated in this thread has been reported in the trucking press, :stuck_out_tongue:

thats to stop them from tipping over when they fly around the bends at 100 MPH!!!

Is there a contradiction here? Either Willi Betz doesnt pay his drivers when they are moving or he does.

None of the blokes & ladies at Shenstone are parked up for weeks on end, and Willi Betz Shenstone is an English company. The same as Norbert Dentressangle in Widnes, or GCA Domestic.

My (French) company had the contract, but they lost it, on service, not price!

Their parent company will be the main offices in their respected countries and hence are governed as such unless they are completely independant and operate as a separate entity ?

whose the french company you work for fella ?

Transalliance Gruppe owned by HN Transport & Michel from Nancy

No contradiction, just to clarify -the orignal post would hopefully be of some benefit or interest to drivers who may be looking for work in those area. As stated it was on the Toyota contract work only for uk driver’s (different from the eastern european haulage side of Betz)
The other part’s that I wrote, the claims of been parked up for weeks, were made by Betz drivers themselves, I never stated ALL drivers of the “Betz group” were parked up .

Are they any good ? Havent they got english wagons here / and or depot ?

Would that be Transports Michel ? If they arte the firm I am thinking of they date back from the seventies.

HN Transport, cant say I’ve heard of them.

Park a silly betz outside your house :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :unamused: :unamused:
Id rather park a Raliant Robin with wide wheels and a Starsky and Hutch paint job outside my gaff , at least the kids would be less embarrased :exclamation:

I’ve kept quiet on this for a week or so.

Firstly,it’s the norm to take the truck home here on the continent. If I had to buy a car to get to and from work every week that would cost me a couple of grand a year.

Secondly, can you honestly say that you’d rather drive for another company and work day and night for the same money?
A lot of the Edwards driver’s left when Willi-Betz took over,in fact I was one of them who was talking about moving on,but,I thought I’d stick it out for a while and see how things went.
90% of the driver’s who quit have come back,or are about to return.
The stories they tell me (and these are true stories) about how they went to other firms and literally ran night and day are scary.Like leaving on a Sunday afternoon with a fridge, first drop Vienna 7am Monday!!!

And you wouldn’t even drive a plain white truck and trailer for Willi-Betz?
Pathetic!
There are too many ‘Glory Boy’s’ out there now who say ‘I only drive left-hookers’,‘I only drive motors with big cabs’,‘I only drive a motor if it’s got a light-bar’.Sad.

Some people have very short memories. It wasn’t all that many years ago that companies would only buy ‘fleet’ motors like FL10’s and P cab Scania’s and if you didn’t like it then ‘There’s the gate’!

Sure,I’m gonna be sad when my Volvo goes but I’m earning good money,no chasing about and running 100% legal!

And as for Willi-Betz cutting the rate and doing the job for nothing, rubbish!
We’re all in the job to make money, and if our office can’t find a decent paying job as a return load, then they’d rather bring us back empty from the UK!

Every company from whichever country is trying to cut costs, and fuel and drivers wages are the biggest outlay.
Willi-Betz aren’t the only company who employ cheap driver’s,though some of you choose to ignore that fact.
Dentressangle have Polish drivers,so do De Rooy,so do Vos Logistics.
I even tried chatting to a G&S driver the other week when loading in Holland, expecting him to be Scottish.Turned out he was Latvian.

Many Swedish and Danish firms have been employing cheaper German driver’s for donkey’s years!

So,I’m staying put, whinge and whine to your hearts content!

Do Harry Vos still actually have any Dutch drivers on their standard curtainsider outfits? surely they must have but I havent met any for a long time now.

I know alot of Germans do or used to work for Danish and Swedish companies, but in those days did the companies in Denmark and Sweden totally replace their native workforce with Germans or have a company polocy of only employing drivers by nationality and effectevely baring Danes and Swedes as is the case now with some companies in northern/western europe.

The danes are moveing into germany and takeing germans on as it is proveing more financal proffit for all concerned also due to the high level of unemployment 5.2 million + they are haveing no problems in getting drivers, as for those who are employing drivers from poland ,cezch, hungary, these drivers are haveing to come used to the hetic and rush which a driver from a west european has and in some cases these
drivers are not as good as one thinks, some firms are therefore rethinking
who they employ and this means those drivers who are GOOD will have no problems at this stage but the bad drivers will be removed from the transport scene as time is money and today the rule is PROFFIT comes
first by most of the european transport companys.
