Best truck sound system

What truck has the best sound system fitted by the Manufactures■■?

The type that when cruising along and look across the M-ways’…u know that driver is bouncing his head…cos they’re loving the tunes and Bassline…

Whilst i’m listening to radio 4 that is…

Merc’s all come with Becker systems, the Actros sounds brilliant, although from what i hear the Axor is ■■■.

The Iveco cargo comes with great speakers but a lousy stereo.

The Renault Premium i dove the other week was very impressive too.

.

IMO the speakers in the Axor are crap

I’ve always been happy with the Scania setup, don’t know the manufacturer but the speaker positioning is good for stereo separation and the tape deck is fine.

Do any cabs have rear speakers ? can’t remember… Would be nice, some seem to have an array of speakers in the doors and dash that don’t achieve didly squat
:unamused:

Suppose if your looking for quality, fit your own spec.
Son has a peugeot 206gti fitted with big amplifier and surround sound speaker system, he purchased a DVD player and has it wired up through the stereo system. Played the movie predator and the sound was fantastic, like the big screen.

Fitted to a truck either listening to the sounds while driving or parked up watching a movie it would be awsome.

had a strallis the other week which was very good, marks out of 10 would be 10 , eaton rifles by the jam full volume had me tapping the steering wheel slightly

Yup the stralis sound system is fan*******tastic…

Although recently the globetrotter stereo has come on some over the years , we have some 02 plates and the stereo is ■■■ ! The 04 and 05 stuff we have the stereo is great . Look forward to seeing what the 06 spec stereo is like .

I like a good stereo , its a good excuse for not bothering with the phone without having to turn it off.

Not sure if it depends on spec but the Volvo Globetrotter has speakers in the rear, along with one in each door and two in the dash and the sound is good. I used to feed the sound from either a DVD player or laptop through the head unit and the effect, while not really surround sound, was pretty ■■■■ good. I ducked more than a few times watching Saving Private Ryan as bullets and bombs whistled across the cab.   That was with my own Sony head unit as the Volvo ones aren’t that great.

Ah yes the Strallis…

Must admit the 04 plate I had last winter had a wicked stereo. Shame the night heater didn’t work, along with the heater blower.

Froze me tootsies off

Renault Premium is top quality too, 06 plater with standard CD.

DAF 95 SSC = Naf stereo

The Stralis stereo is so good you have to be seriously careful not to blow the speakers…like I did…

Yeah if its got the VDO, they are pants city.

M.A.N s gotta be the best. :unamused: :unamused:

In fact its a pony ■■■■■■■■■■■■■.A Binatone or Alba stereo from Argos sounds better

Best one I had was in a Volvo

I`ve got the rear speakers in my volvo. Is it fairly easy to fit another Model in neil? I quite fancy a pioneer or sony… And once in how can i run a dvd player through it? Cheers. jon

Changing the head unit is a 5-minute job. Pop the old one out, unplug the cables, fit the cage that comes with the new one into the slot, plug the cables into the new one, job done. You will lose the steering wheel controls and telephone mute, if you have the fitted phone, but you may be able to get some kind of adaptor to make them work, I didn’t bother. The easiest way to get the DVD player sound through the head unit is to make sure you buy one with an Aux Line in then just get a cable from Maplins or the like and connect the two. A red/white phone lead to 3.5 mm stereo jack is the usual one you need. Occasionally you may get a slight humming noise on the sound from the DVD player, which is caused by a ground loop. You can get a suppressor to solve this from somewhere like Maplins, they don’t cost much, and fit it between the DVD player and the lead to the head unit.

By far the worst is in the 4 series Scania Topline, there is no bass in it until you put the top bunk down, for an apparent top notch motor they are bottom notch in the stereo dept
Same had to be said for the last 2 Daf Super Space Cabs i had, too tinny, no bass in em.
When i was working for the Swedes, i got a brand new CD trim FH, (around 1999/2000) had a built in CD/ Cassette/Radio with a graphic equalizer you could tune yourself, it was blinkin brilliant.
It really was the dogs danglies
Saying that, i now drive a 54 plate MegaSpace Messcherschmitt and for a standard radio/CD player that is very good as well (not as good as the Volvo though)

My ‘05’ FM12 Globetrotter doesn’t have the rear cab wall speakers, and the speaker grilles in the door are just for show.

The two speakers it does have can’t handle the bass at all so I usually set it to -2, because I hate distortion.

The Volvo head unit is fine. Think it is a VCR300 off the top of my head. The CD player never skips, and the radio reception is fantastic - I can even pick up Capital FM in Huntingdon - in good weather!

My point here people is like a lot of things in these trucks…who the hell came up with the idea of putting such ■■■■■■ stereo’s and speakers in them…an dthought yeah there good enough for bum truck drivers…
I think this thought came to me when i was driving an Axor or MAN…(well in the case of the Axor…many times)…the other day…

To me the ones in the Axor…(yeah they have updated them…but they somewhat sound muffled)…are absolutely disgraceful…all they r is the same 2inch speaker u get out of computers…what were they listening to when they tested them…■■?

MAN still only have 2 ■■■■■■ ones in the front even on the 06 plate…then again i hate MAN…their just a poor vehicle…

Volvo…what the hell is the point of those…grill panels in the door…Same with DAF…although i suppose they use the same panels in the more up market range

I know there has to be a differnce between your top of the range trucks and basics…but some of the really simple improvements they don’t do in some of these trucks…begs belief…

If just one manufacturer got off their arse and used their brains…they could sell a load more truck…cos drivers would tell their bosses how good they are…word would get round…also for those…who don’t drive but do the buying…
Then again maybe not

Driver…Boss I think you should buy this truck cos it’s got a great stereo and loads of things I like.

Boss…Yeah but this truck costs 8 grand less and does an extra .8mpg.

Mmmmmm wonder which truck Boss will buy. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
