After driving MGW981L at the TyneTees run yesterday I have to say the sound of a ■■■■■■■ is without equal. Sentimental old fool I may be but I absolutely loved it. regards kevmac47
hiya,
The Commer two stroke had one helluva nice sound when in full flow never drove many rigids but they was one of the best I’ve driven could fairly rattle the windows of the roadside houses when you had to use the old A6 never drove one in artic format but weight for weight I’ll bet they was OK.
thanks harry long retired.

hiya,
Bet I could/would hold a candle to a Scania 80 series provided it was doused in petrol first.
thanks harry long retired.

I know it’s not an engine but I also loved the noise the Bedford TK brake/clutch made - virtually impossible to write it on here but those that know it, know what I’m on aboutI can hear that ‘tweet’ now
Muffled,whistle kind of sound
As you say, difficult to put into words.

A bit like a muffled wolf whistle .

I loved the sound of these Leyland bus engines when they were ticking over - there was a characteristic whistling sound:
Found one on youtube, just listen to HJA965E:

The Merc was probably empty though and the F12 was fully freighted if the 1632 went uphills anything like a 1628 or a 2534.
Not bad for a 50 cc bike but a 750 is better.

Leaning out the cab on the Brady Octopus and trailer, climbing Shap with a 28ton load on its back! The sound of the 680 Power Plus at full “chat”-----magic,never missed a beat.Bewick.
