How do more spots give better vision in fog/snow?
They don’t. The trick is to use them after it gets dark.

they help in the boondocks of eastern europe where there isnt much in the way of anything, and also in scandinavia they have been a massive aid too
Ask your boss for a Scania with the spots fitted above the windscreen, it will work out cheaper in the long run
If you operate at night in the middle of nowhere on a regular basis you may have a good reason for having them, but running down the motorway during the day seems a bit pointless having them fitted

And from my rallying days, a set of Cibie Turini’s or Super Oscars or the olde Hella 3000’s would be nice. Don’t buy your Ring/Halfords/etc crap.Ken.
I refuse to enter into this thread about bling after having 4 Super Oscars on my Mk 2 ■■■■■■ Sport

Perfect on M/Way when that bawbag car driver on the opposite carriageway travelling towards you decides he cant be arsed dipping his full beam for you.
+1 more so on the French autoroutes A26 from Calais is one and the A25 From Dunkirk can be another, as both are usually unlit late at night

Genuine question from someone who doesn’t see the point in spotlights; Is it a defect if one doesn’t work? This is one reason why I wont have them fitted (if offered- ■■■■ buying them they’re a rip off)How did you manage to get the F word past the auto censor?
there was a “-” in front the “F”
wht do you a light bar just mount extra lights on cab roof or deflector like we used to do in the old days
In my oppinion they are just bling and always have been. We don’t get them here but one of my friends who comes from Italy owns a Volvo VN and has fitted a light bar with 5 spots on it, he has been pulled by DOT and questioned about it more times than I have had hot dinners LOL, he still has it but has reduced the power to a dull glimmer and seems to be getting away with it.
Rules like this in a country that lets white lights at rear and any coloured lights anywhere on the truck go.
they look good and give you more visibility,
no need for massive paragraphs full of bull

They give you no more visibility than a couple of good driving lamps but they sure annoy other drivers comming the other way if they are not switched off. Total waste of money especially if you don’t own the truck but it belongs to someone else, just like any external glittery object fitted by the driver.
We had a guy start on our company as an employee a few yers ago and within a month he had extra lights galore and new mud guards fitted over the drive wheels and lost his job 2 months later but hey ! … the next guy got a few extra bits on his truck
i say they do,
you say they don’t
lets go round and round all day
what a waste of time this thread has turned into ! seems all the bling haters have jumped on the band wagon . if you drive in the dark surely more light is a bonus end of , each to their own ! if u want light bars & your boss says you can ,then go for it dont listen to the self righteous lot on this thread who dont like them !! rant over happy new year all
thanks for all your answers really appreciate it… i drive way up in the north of scotland(shetland) and not on motorways

Putting the lights on’s doubled the trucks’ value
If you drive forestry roads/N Scotland etc and your boss is paying - why not have lights? If your boss isn’t paying, you have to be kidding surely?
Anywhere else - waste of time and money. If you need extra spots for tripping up and down the M1/A roads of the rest of the country you really need to go to Specsavers ■■■■ quick…
If I could just quote D12 when rapping about the ownership of a gun they said
“better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it!”
always got me through life. AA insurance etc. lol.
btw I drive a ■■■■ scania round cornwall with no spot lights and crap headlights.
i have the extra lights to blind the holy crap out the idiots that won’t dip their lights coming the other
way

Hi there to all i was wanting to find out if there is any benefit to having light bars apart from the bling?Reason i ask is that i have approached my boss to get a roof bar and a lo bar from spot on bars, he has told me that we will talk about it in the new year after the break. so its not a yes and not a no answer from him.
my supervisor reckons he will ask me what and why do i want them and what will the truck benefit from them? safety etc…
so i would really appreciated any help/sugestions
thanks

what has lower wages got to do with it? did i mention who was paying? mmm jealousy i can smell lol…
The most effective light for driving is set as close to your eyeline as possible, so that you look along the beam instead of it cutting across your vision.
Also lights on the roof or anywhere else are no advantage in a fixed position if you want better vision coming to corners, brows or dips.
If I was offered any I would choose one very powerfull beam fixed to the doorpost at eye level and which was movable up and down and side to side, powered or manual.
But it is probably illegal.
