I agree im a ■■■■ and the lights do aid people with poor vision.
Thank ■■■■ for optical scientists

lumpy road come up over a brow, your lights show whats the on road in the distance but leave big a black hole in front of you, that’s when toplights would be handy.

some of you should try driving from laxford bridge to lairg on a moonless night . 41 mile of hilly , twisty single track road with deer wandering about . they definitely need them , and it helps the ■■■■■■ up car drivers to see them coming and get out of the way .

Fair enough on forestry roads and quiet rural roads extra lights are OK.On busy A roads you are on dip most of the time due to the volume of traffic.

Ahh yes thats what I was completely failing to say

Perfect on M/Way when that bawbag car driver on the opposite carriageway travelling towards you decides he cant be arsed dipping his full beam for you.

I have both top and bottom bars on my truck and dont class them as bling, they are tools to do a job.

we do mostly forest work and the more light you have the better.
Lots of places we work have no street lights or infact any light other than the one,s you bring with you.

I actualy have nearly as many lights pionting towards the back of the truck as the front  .

If you end up getting lights , go for the round one,s.

The oblong one,s look good but do not put as much light on the situation  .

As has been said , if i was doing motorway or city work i would not bother.

Couldnt they just fix them to their antlers?

Yes, of course, correctly specced for the work. However, most of the trucks I see with eight extra lights bolted to the front pull containers out of Felixstowe and the like.

Genuine question from someone who doesn’t see the point in spotlights; Is it a defect if one doesn’t work? This is one reason why I wont have them fitted (if offered- ■■■■ buying them they’re a rip off)

I have them on my truck and find they do not provide that much extra visability on forest roads at night, when you get stuck the bottom light bar on a Volvo has to come off everytime as the towing pin fits into the hole where the light bar mount goes :unamused:

Climb up and adjust them to where they do benifit you

How are they going to benefit me more
What am I going to see that I cant see with just 2 lights?

Absoutly nothing, why make a thing easier driven incase someone thinks your a kelsa fanboy up adjusting them

Why are they so expensive? They’re just four lamps on an alloy bar with some wiring?

Yep, and when it’s hossing down with rain, don’t expect the wrecker driver to be pratting about taking your bar off, he’ll hand you the tools and get back in his cab whilst you take it off.

Had an Irish Scanny 620 in the yard last week, had 6 spots on the top bar and 6 on the bottom. Col was joking on with him, why do you need 620 horsepower pulling a fridge?

Easy answer, 220hp to pull the fridge and 400 to power the alternator!

Pay for quality, plus ever priced up a brand new headlamp for a lorry :open_mouth: Prices I saw in my last place for V2 FH headlamp clusters is serious money

And from my rallying days, a set of Cibie Turini’s or Super Oscars or the olde Hella 3000’s would be nice. Don’t buy your Ring/Halfords/etc crap.

Ken.

How did you manage to get the F word past the auto censor?

As for the OP, if the gaffer says yes to the lights. Just ask him to give you the cash for them… and then buy a good torch and pocket the rest.

The hyphen in front of it fools the auto censor, tho I am sure this was not the poster’s intention.

To be honest i think the bars are ugly things. 6 frying pan size spotlights on the roof and you have no place moaning about the price of fuel. I think Scania got it right putting the spots in the visor out the air stream.

How do more spots give better vision in fog/snow?, i find dip beam better than main beam in these conditions.
