bendy v non bendy

Well ive been for an interview/ chat for a job on the mixers earning about 100pound a month less basic than I am now without working weekends but with overtime will take it back to what im on. If I get it will be the first job I’ve had for years with weekends and bank holidays and 10days off for xmas… Over the moon if I get it…

Not worried about doing long days as ill start early enough to finsh early to see my boys

So it got me thinking,

How many of you would hand your bendy keys up for the same wages or a lil less??

The last bendy I drove was about nearly 20 years ago. Personally speaking I couldn’t give a rats ■■■ about them!
Whats the big deal? A truck is a truck to me wether it bends in the middle or not. If it pays the money, all the bloody same mate.

I just can’t drive a rigid, I’m fine going forwards but every time I have to reverse one I always turn the steering wheel the wrong way . :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d probably be the same with an artic if I jumped in one now!
Saw Southern Star in Brunel Way a couple of weeks ago BTW! Nice looking motor!

with you there Gembo… (plus…just had a sniff of a job on a 12tonner for same or slightly more than the last artic job I was doing :unamused: )

I’d take a non bendy not for the money just for parking, you always seem to find that spot in the lay by that’s just too short when your desperate for a break, pish, carrier bag jobbie or what ever else you may need said spot for. Plus ya “you” can see the end of a rigid on the “dreaded blindside” :grimacing:

Don’t drive neither, but take home the same without ANY of the stress / grief anymore. :sunglasses:

I haven’t driven an artic for some weeks now, instead working on a job that runs on 18 tonners. Much prefer them, no messing about with trailers getting covered in grease and muck and getting paid the same money.

The type of work is most important to me… Generally speaking though i like driving either powerful vans or artics.

Was driving artics for £9.35 ph and gave it up to drive a rigid for £11 ph. No brainer really!

The type of work does have to matter aswell your right!

Im not bothered what I drive as long as I enjoy it and it pays… im that desperate to get out the co op id drive a pre war truck round the globe!

Do you ever get the feeling your rushing into a job just to escape a current one your hate?

Lol thought it was just me, you must have seen me in halifax this morning  lol

A guy I know near me used to drive artics and now drives a little 18 ton mixer. He likes it well enough!

We have three artics and my rigid (huge overhang too) the artic drivers fight NOT park mine up at night if I get back and get off handy, they just cant handle it

I’d hand my bendy keys (is there such a thing?) in a flash and drive an electric wheelchair if the money was right! Don’t care what I drive, where I drive or when I drive, it’s all about the money for me.

I’ve never seen a stff job that pays more than a bendy one…

I would give up driving any trucks for a job that paid £600 a week if i could find one. I would probably do some moonlighting though but only artics. I drove rigids as a class 1 licence holder rather than class 1 driver and i wouldn’t go back to them now. Too cramped for me which i would now walk off a job if i was given a day cab

A Hundred per week less is still a hundred less.
Overtime is a bonus, not a birth right, so don`t factor it in when it comes to working out personnel finances
