Belgian marques: cab- and bodybuilders

The abbrevation of EFA (tipper-systems from Antwerp-region) stands for Ets. Francois Adriaensens
and later his two sons (Jos and Marcel) formed S.A. J. & M. Adriaensens N.V. in Antwerp-region.

Just after WW2 (in collaboration with Ets. A. Denonville from Brussels) the did quite some export
to Africa on ex-army surplus like White 1064 (10 tonnes, 6x4) and other lorries. Later, when Marcel
was the sole owner, the company was renamed S.E.F.A. (Societe d’ Equipment Fournitures d’ Automobiles)
and sold to Stevens (later know as Composittrailer) of Lokeren (Gent-region)

See attached extractions from early post-war documentation.

A daughter of Marcel later married to Van de Weghe, very much known as crane and heavy haulier

I wonder who built this cab? Robert

Mandator can correct/confirm, I believe it is a cab from Bollekens-Duffel

Herewith a nice combination from 1930…a Minerva-tractor (probably type TTL) with a TTA-trailer.

TTA-1.jpg

Sorry for ‘bad’/small quality…herewith the whole combination

TTA-2.jpg

Another Bollekens cab? Rather handsome AEC, I must say. Robert

@ Robert1952: the handsome cabs of the Wieze lorry and Natural tractor were made by Bollekens & frères of Duffel near Antwerp, Belgium. This body builder was active till 1972 and made cabs among others for AEC, Scania Vabis, Volvo, Chevrolet, Ford, Guy, …

In 1921 Isodore Bollekens and his nephew Joseph started a garage on the premises of an old brick-factory in Duffel.
Duffel is located south-east of Antwerp. In 1923 Eugène (brother of Isodore) started a body-workshop together with
his son Joseph. Also his other sons Henri and Francois joined the company. Eugène died in 1950 and the three sons
continued the body-workshop. In 1972 production ceased.

Camerman from Antwerp was very inventive with all sorts of vehicles and cabs/bodies.

Here an example of an US-origin, position of the steering-system, with its proud/confident
driver in front of his daily workhorse.

N°14 was a Mack NR with home made cab by Philemon Camerman and Henschel engine.

Another Mack with Henschel-engine

This Bussing tractor of the Belgian hauler Camerman has a home made cab designed by one of the co-owners Philémon Camerman

Which company was responsible for this cab? Owner was TRT (TranspoRoute&Travaux) from Brussels. Once
this company was very big/rich and even bought Sogetra from Overijse, a wellknown contractor in Belgium.

It looks very much like a Bollekens cab to me! Robert

Yes, I agree but am not sure…many local cabbuilders and also operators themselves
did have own cabs homemade in their workshop.

The majority of ex-warsurplus had cabrio-roofs with small tarpaulins, like this DiamondT from Sogetra, how
about severe winters, no heater…insulation

DiamondT-Sogetra.jpg

It has the typical look of a Bollekens cab as was available for Scania and Volvo. But with no records available it’s guessing :sunglasses:

When busses (and their bodies) are involved…let’s add:

  1. L.A.G.

  2. Desot

ERF is L.A.G. the same company who made road tankers
