Anyone know what this is, Stanley Thurstons around 1961.

Was it a Albion ?
My father used to help fix some of those vehicles as he came from Bunyan Road, and spent many hours repairing engines etc there.

Regards…
Andy

It isn’t, its actually an Armstrong Saurer (never heard of them).

Saurer are/were a Swiss truck and bus manufacturer. Only Armstrong I’m aware of was a motorcycle manufacturer.

Saurer Armstrong were a Saurer built under licence in the 30’s by Armstrong Whitworth in the north east of England.

There is a Harvey’s sign board(looks like it might be from the back end of one of their brick trailers to me) in the Sainsbury’s At Biggleswade-as you exit the petrol station there is a small parking area as you drive round the back of the petrol station shop, and the sign is on the left -it’s in good condition, thought some of you might be interested,I’ve never been able to grab a pic

Be the wrong way anyway, lol, as that went inland…

Not lorries I know but still a couple of different modes of transport I thought might interest some. The famous Cardington Hangers, known for the building of airships like the R101 , Goodyear etc and regular sites over Bedford. The hangers which are still standing and have been recently renovated are now more famous for film sets and music groups building their stages etc in them to test out the designs. Visitors include Take That quite a few of the rock bands and in the last couple of weeks Cliff Richard and for those that don’t know some parts of the Batman movies were filmed in them.

Back loaded from those hangers a few times in the 90s. Mainly plastic water butts and watering cans for Homebase . I think it was a co called Plysu? that used them for storage

Wouldn’t be at all surprised, there were quite a few firms using them for storage.

They are still about, they seem to have quite a few refuse motors now doing the retail waste collection around the area, quite often see a couple in Aylesbury in the early mornings.
