Rikki-UK:
Not a bad programme, but like the Steady Eddie programme they edited it badly-, Like the lads going home after the derailment lift- so no-ones going to derig the Mammoett crane then? . and similar to the Eddie programme some of the commentary was a bit over the top, making a crisis out of nothing. But it was watchable. A lot of stuff is left out that anyone who has worked on heavy cranes would spot instantly, but the programme is made for the enjoyment of the general public- not those in the business, again a bit like the Eddie programme
Well to be fair I imagine most people would realise the crane has to be disassembled when the lift is finished
Though personally, I agree they could have shown more of that side of the job, it would have been more interesting than going on about interviews for the heavy gang.
I’ve never done that sort of work so probably don’t know what I’m talking about, but I didn’t think the commentary came close to matching the commentary on ES T&T for comedy effect.
Making a big thing of a 90+ ton girder lift is not the same as the T&T commentator trying to make a left turn sound exciting
lots of people not wearing suitable ppe ie woman with the statue with no hard hat on under crane perhaps not such a good advert hse might be intrested in looking at that

Quite right - a 15 tonne block of granite falling on your head without a hard hat could cause a severe headache!
I somehow doubt a Hiab could have lifted the tiger at the radius required, even the top spec high capacity HIABs could manage 18t but thats at 4.4m by the time you get to where it was needed your looking probably 10t max, its not just about lifting capability its also about lifting angles on the slings too.

If that statue landed on your napper a hard hat would be the least of your worries
