Unusual for stobarts to take such an opportunity for self promotion!

Willie Stobart isn’t slow to promote his company. Suppose you can’t knock him for seizing any opportunity.

3 months profit from the rainbow trailer truck donated…given recent financials I dunno if this will amount to much…

What a load of ballcocks.

It harsh for the NHS, everything the truck earns will be donated to the NHS, that won’t be much if anything.

Other companies did it weeks ago, obviously Stobbies, had to have a meeting, to decide weather Dozy should have the trailer for maximum coverage to go with his maximum hours.

So we needn’t worry any longer about the Corona problems, Willie and his Stobbies heroes⁴ have saved the day and the country. :sunglasses:
Hip hip hoo ■■■■ ray eh?
:unamused:

I like this wrapping

And everyone went home for lashings of ginger beer and cup cakes.

Great Britain’s flagship haulier has done a number of excellent things here, I don’t understand the negativity.

Highlighted the plight of poor truckers, liveried up trailers with life saving messages, donated to the NHS, and rallied to the cause of feeding the UK. Even helped out Morrison’s when their subbies could not step up to the mark.

With me as one of their lead drivers as well, the future is very bright indeed.

Too right mate, absolute hero…in fact I was talking to a couple of Stobbie drivers who know you, and they both said you’re an absolute anchor to the firm in their eyes. :sunglasses:

(Think it was ‘‘anchor’’ they said, anyway    .

I dont understand why Stobbies get so much hate. Its not like they just go in and say give us the job. Most jobs are put out to tender and they win them. Even the Morrisons one i think someone got fed up dealing with hundreds of hauliers and gave the job to Stobbies.

I am suprised Stobarts could find enough tractor units without wind deflectors missing or white unwrapped panels for the film :exclamation:

It’s the way they win them. There’s a reason they’re £460m in debt, they go in with rates that don’t even cover the cost of doing the job. Nobody stands a chance when you’ve a company the size of that willing to leverage millions of pounds of debt to win a contract.

If you want a reason to hate them it’s there every single week on your wage slip shown as the hourly rate you get. Stobarts are one of the main contributors to the rates being driven down in this country and ultimately your hourly rate. I’m lucky enough to drive at a company where it doesn’t make its money from haulage and I’m on 40% to 50% more than the average for my area for companies whose sole source of income is transporting goods. The same applies all over the country - if you’re driving own contract you’re usually on much more pay plus perks than someone who is driving for a haulage company.

Interesting reply Chief.

Not sure where your £460 million debt comes from, do you have a link? As for your illustrious Howden’s career that pays you an enormous amount of money, I think you are bullshining. I’ve worked for Howden’s on agency, and I’ve also done Zenith Appleton depot (driving Howden’s Daf CF’s based there) :bulb:

As for the wages at the green magnificence, I did less than 45 hrs the week before last (Mon-Fri day’s) and brought home £400 (45 hrs guaranteed contract), a lot better than many on here. So basically Conor, I think you are chatting sheet again

You are putting food on the table for your family. And anyone who wants to knock you for is a fool.

Also, anyone who wants to brag about their job as a lorry driver in terms of salary is also a fool. My partner earns more than any employed lorry driver on here for less hours than the majority. But she doesn’t have the benefits of most lorry drivers (left alone to do the job). If you want to brag about your job never use money as a lorry driver.

In a couple of weeks this BBC story will disappear into oblivion much like the bright red BBC container stunt they did a few years ago

Depends on where you live in the country in the South East yes by comparison driving a lorry is a poorly paid job but not so much in other parts I take home considerably more than my other half who is a civil servant than her gross salary, a job requiring more qualifications than me and with much higher stress levels. Compared to other jobs locally out of driving I could not earn near what I am on due to the low wage base of the local economy
