Wish I’d never seen a truck as a kid.

You have made the classic transport mistake, what is that we hear you say.
You have been foolish enough to involve yourself in for profit transport.
When i was a kid, my dad used to take me out in his artic and I hated every second of it.
Now I’m 49 and Just passed my class 2, Its a funny old world

When I was a kid I also went with my Dad and loved it.
When in my teens I used to go away with older mates that were drivers and loved it.
When I first started driving myself I loved it.
I’m at the stage now that if I could afford to jack I would never even look at a ■■■■ truck again.

Dont need to jack in working, just change careers. Yeah I know you cant do that after you’re 20 so they say, but its quite possible…just gotta find something different although cant guarantee you’ll like it.
I’m 41, married, skint etc but after 14 years in computer land I jumped to construction, then 3 years later I jumped to HGV driving as hated the line of construction I was in. Ok so a bit nuts but it can be done. I just wouldnt go into a job involving a nasty product beginning with A.
Anyway, if you all change theres more chance of us newbies getting a higher paying job due to “driver shortage”.

Just not true. I know a fair few people changing careers at all different ages. These days it’s the norm. No such thing as a career for life now.

Dont worry. I wont be another 40 years before youre hating every minute of it!

Hey Snowman. Do you drive a red Fenwick Volvo? If so I passed you on A17 west bound this afternoon. If wasn’t you, then there’s also another Snowman on the roads
I never really liked trucks as a kid but I like driving and now I do like trucks and enjoy the driving but it’s the hours involved and the bs in some of the places I deliver that ruin the job for me

lol, must be an imposter. Wasnt me. I cant drive hgvs anymore
I’m sorry to hear that snowman. There is a snowman imposter out on the roads I can confirm
I loved the job in the beginning but absolutely hated everything about it in the end and when I could see a way to get out I took it. But for reasons I don’t understand I now miss it, must be in the blood or something hence me hanging around in here. Just tonight when I was out on the bike a grain lorry passed me and I could have just swapped him then and there. Ten years till my pension kicks in so I still have time for another go, or may be it would be a huge mistake as I’m never going to recreate my best days tramping in my 143. I think the hurdle of doing the dcpc has been a bit of a god send for me, quite a commitment and expense to go through it and without it I can’t make any completely mad on the spur decision and jump back in, I just know it would be a mistake!
Meanwhile I’m enjoying being retired and enjoying my time exploring the borders on me push bike - LOL
I loved going with my Dad as a kid. I loved the job when I started. I loved the job 5/10/15 years in. I love the job more than ever now.
