Bands you wish you'd have seen, or want to see

5live last night were obviously discussing the Oasis reunion kicking off in Cardiff (did anyone go btw?)
We tried for Heaton Park tickets but were unsuccessful.
Got me thinking of bands who I wish I’d had chance to see. For me it’s undoubtedly Led Zeppelin. The Queen gig at Wembley also as a second choice. Was it 86? Anyone go to that?

Whats yours? Solo artists included too

Dunno, but next Wednesday we are eating at a Freddy Mercury tribute do at Mareuil, Dordogne. No idea how good the act will be but just hoping the sweet and sour chicken and rice is up to scratch. Since my apparent* heart attack in May I have to be careful what I eat.

*It wasn’t a falling down one, I had the pain for 4 days and thought it was trapped wind. Some fart.

Was all that was necessary. No one gives a ■■■■ where in the Dordogne you’re going  :sign_of_the_horns:

Wasn’t keen on Oasis first time round so certainly don’t want to see them now.

Went to Led Zeppelin gig at Newcastle City Hall in 1970.
55 years ago now cannot remember much about it  :joy:

Years ago I bought a ticket to see OMD, never got to see them as the lorry broke down, I was walking distance to the venue but it was too late to get there.

Sorry, I forgot I was answering someone who only had broken English at their command. Bless.

News report about Oasis tour here.

Well so far in my life I have seen live the following:
Joe Satriani first ever concert at the NIA about 14 or 15 maybe.
Dennis Locorriere seen him 3 times I think in total. (Lead singer of Doctor Hook)
Paul Carrack seen him at least 3 times maybe 4 now. (Ace, Squeeze and Mike and the mechanics fame)
10cc Graham gold and the latest line up but still good.
Belinda Carlisle

Fleetwood Mac id have loved to go and see but too late now with Christine Mcvie having left this world sadly no longer an option.

Who id still like to see

Foreigner but would have been better to see the original line up with Lou Gramm but Kelly Hansen does a decent job.

Mike and the mechanics again can’t see original line up as Paul Young ( not the other Paul Young) is dead and Paul Carrack not longer in the band but Roachford does a decent job.

Gabrielle. Nothing else to say about that.

The cure.

Simple Minds

Just off the tip of my head hard to think right now all the singers/bands I’d like to go and see if they are touring.

Beatles tribute band..

I’ve always had Oasis down as a grossly over rated band…
Noel Gallagher has the talent for writing decent songs, but his brother just comes across as a belligerent ignorant f/wit who thinks he is John Lennon, and does dodgy impressions of him…imo.
Cant fault him though for being with Patsy Kensit at one time…Just give me a second whilst I dream.:joy:…there ya go sorted.

Seen a few top bands in my time, Eagles, ELO, and Paul Rogers doing his ‘Free’ and ‘Bad Company’ tour a few years back.
In contrast given that I like most genres of popular music I have seen acts ranging from Happy Mondays, and Inspiral Carpets, to Marti Pellow ex Wet Wet Wet, and Spandau Ballet on their ‘Reformation’ tour before they fell out again.
Joe Perry Project (guitarist from Aerosmith.)

Shhhhh..Don’t tell anybody but I even found myself watching Showaddywaddy (a freebie) but even worse…wait for it…
The Nolan Sisters :flushed_face::joy::joy:
Yeah I know… but they were supporting Freddie Starr at Blackpool in mitigation.
I did not come out ‘In the mood for dancing’’ put it that way.

Saw Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, and Sutherland Brothers and Quiver (google them) as a young kid…oh yeah and Tom Jones a couple of years ago…but that’s not unusual.:joy:

Missed the chance to see Queen at Knebworth something came up. also Rod Stewart at Carlisle (one of my favourite all time records is ‘Young Turks’ btw)
Also missed chance to see one of my all time favourite bands…Simple Minds.
(Come to think of it Jim Kerr of simple minds ALSO dated Patsy Kensit.…sorry just ignore my obsession with hot blondes.

Believe it or not I once went to a jazz concert with my Uncle who was a rep for Carlsberg …so free beer all night…a good do.
Saw Acker Bilk there who played my dear old Granda’s favourite piece of music (Stranger on the Shore) which was a bit emotional for me, Humphrey Littleton, and Kenny Ball and his jazz band.

Love to see the Stones, and The Who, oh yeah and Kim Wilde, but that has more to do with my ’ blonde thing’.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
The absolute epitome of musical greats JBJ… Bon Jovi…never saw them but heard them clearly about 20 years ago when parked up at Stoke in a sub depot of a firm I worked for, they were playing at Brittania Stadiun Stoke City fc, we had a bbq and beers going on in the yard…great night out.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:…(Blaze of glory another all time favourite record of mine.)

I could bore you all endlessly talking about bands and music.
:joy:

I went to watch a Queen tribute act last year, they were excellent. I’ve got tickets next year to see an ELO tribute and an Eagles tribute. :+1:

I saw them once at Wembley in 2019, it was when Lindsay Buckingham didn’t agree so Mike Campbell and Neil Finn were recruited.

I think The Pretenders supported which was a good set also.

I had a ticket for Neil Young and Bob Dylan in hyde park but got stuffed by work in a job I had just started. It had drifted from my recollection, probably best to forget again.

I met Tony Hadley by pure chance by being in a small town called Lousã, in Portugal, as he was invited to play at a small music festival to promote the arts for the municipality.

The drummer of Spandau Ballet also accompanied him, we played some football and had a few cold beer’s,as it was an outside concert then the rain came down and the band asked if they could take the whole of the trailer sheet off and use it to put on top of the stage.

I said no way José, it’s too big and too heavy.

The venue was then moved inside in the town hall, they then went on to play at the Lisbon Expo and Oasis also played there too.

Later on I received a long hand written letter from Tony, and it listed his London address, to sum up, a really nice guy and so down to earth.

Although I was underage really, I was working as a waiter at a holiday camp on the IoW in 1970. A group of us paid a share to get into an old Dormobile minibus/van thing and went to the last night of the Festival, so although I didn’t really appreciate it at the time, I did get to see the last performance of Jimi Hendrix. And the whole festival scene was an eye-opener for a teenager. The following year a group of us 6th Form college kids went to Weeley for the whole weekend.
While at colege I went to several concerts. Didn’t really get on with the rather pretentious stuff from Yes etc, but did enjoy some other bands. Jethro Tull, Who, Mott the Hoople, Osibisa, Ten Years After, Iron Butterfly, Squeeze, all stick out as being better gigs.

Who would I like to see now? Pretenders might float my boat. Ideally down the local pub, but I just might be persuaded to travel a bit to see Chrissie, but not sure that I could do a festival or similar. I never was very tolerant of crowds.

Dipped in and out to watch a few segments of the Glastonbury Festival, saw a bit of that Charli xcx, it was full on resonator to highlight her intonation, she apparently got negative comments for miming the whole set, but according to fans more in to the knowledge of the singer, this was how she wanted it done in a more personal touch, I must say her dancing was very erotic, especially the part where she stretched herself over a glass panel with the camera below, an artistic touch and flare perhaps?

Now that’s a sad list

Well they were heavily influenced by The Beatles so yeah i get that :face_with_tongue:

Some good lists there :+1:

See Ozzy played out with Black Sabbath tonight at Villa Park. My Sisters got a streaming ticket so going round tomorrow to watch it.

There has to be something wrong with anybody that doesn’t like some of the oasis music
It’s either a chip on the shoulder or a personal dislike from where they come from
There is nobody that could come close to the Beatles, but by God they came close and for their generation were better

Absolutely.
