isn’t it about time that we humans got together and collectively refuse to be treated like slaves, fifteen hours working in a pressure cooker enviromment isn’t acceptable in this day and age …for anyone that is in favour of working fifteen hours i would love to know why…ta

One who I knew took home 600 - 700 week on Class 2 multidrop
Other who I knew took home 700 - 800 week on Class 2 long distance multidrop + Tramping + Handball, 80h weeks
True story - saw myself - tried - said, no thanks, too hard for me…
Both were fat, running on Red Bull and coffee
I have told people not connected with this industry that drivers can work for 15 hours per day ,even though that is qualified by ONLY 10 hours actual driving. They mainly think that I amwrong or talking more bull than usual.I really think that 10 hours should be the maximum .I worked in a factory 40 years ago where 10 hours and a 4 day week was the norm. Any overtime was on the fifth day and paid at time and a half.Management said that 10 hours was the maximum allowed .
Surely working for 15 hours day is illegal
Currently driving less than 40 hours a week for a utilities business. Good rate of pay, but lose out compared to the typical 55 hour week I used to work. My home is paid for, so I can afford to live working less hours, but many drivers can’t, hence they work long hours.
Bit pedantic?

it’s six hours extra in your pay packet for a working week that zombies wouldn’t do, i’m sure that the majority of drivers would
be in favour of banning them ,anyone for them i’d love to know why
I can count the number of 15 hour days I’ve done in the last five years on one hand.
I’d rather do 15 hours once in a blue moon than sleep in a lorry.
I can count the number of nights out I’ve done in the last five years on no hands. (That means none for the hard of thinking).
Banning 15 hour days increases the likelihood of me having to sleep in a lorry.
I won’t be investing today. I’m out.

You can’t tell him he is out,he has already said he’s out ffs
As said I’d rather do 15hrs that sleep in a tiny can all night, having to ■■■■ in a carrier bag and ■■■■ in a old bottle, you would get better sleeping facilities in prison that you do nighting out in a tin can.
Gosh. Gees. Golly. Where do I sign up?
The total number of hours of your shift has very little to with how you are treated at work. Nor has it got anything to do with creating a pressured environment for you to work in.
As for your total number of hours spent at work for a day, or a week really is only a tiny factor in how tired you are. The things you do doing that shift are far more important factors in your overall tiredness.
I’ve got a better idea for you OP. Get a better job, ya know one you hate less… if you’re pressured at work its because you let yourself be pressured. You can only go as fast as you can go, and you can only get there when you get there. Take a chill pill, communicate with your planners and TM in a polite, professional, and personable manner, and I promise your ■■■■ driving job might not seem so bad.
I liked them when on the flour because it meant on most runs I could get everything off on the first day. This meant a lie in on day two and an early finish.
I don’t do them nowadays.

I give you a perfectly good reason why and you say this post isn’t aimed at me? Why? Because I don’t do three 15 hour days every week.
A better discussion would be “Ban the mugs who are doing three 15 hour days every week even though they don’t want to”.

i’m alright jack comes to mind don’t bother me because i’m ok, the mugs doing 15 hour days wouldn’t be doing them if they where banned
that’s the point of the post
If on day work home every night
I wouldn’t be up for 15 hrs 9 off and back in and would find another job
As I do euro I want the 15 to stay if anything increase the 90 a fortnight crap
Then get home more weekends
Scrap the 15 could mean not getting out of a country before a driving ban or knock on effect not getting home that weekend etc etc
End of day we all knew driving long hours and always has been
None of us are forced to accept a job
And better ones are out there if you prefer
And none of us were forced to join the industry and could of gone for a 9-5 37 hr week
Career
