Back in 2003 when

Back in 2003 I was featured in a T&D article,Foreign Fields’,where I was accompanied by photo-journalist Craig Sheer for a week’s trip to Sweden.

Craig has very kindly passed on all the photo slides that he took during that week (and there are LOTS!) and I have had a few of them scanned and printed,or printed and scanned depending which way you look at it,to share with you.

This was taken at SKF in Tongeren,Belgium just before we set off.

Tongeren again, and this pic will be of interest to kindle, his old Volvo can just be seen parked in the distance.

Waiting for the ferry at Frederikshavn,Denmark to take us to Gothenburg.

Trelleborg,Sweden.

Inside the Onsala terminal in Gothenburg.

The Onsala terminal tractor parked in the garage.

On the ramp in Gothenburg.

After picking up a trailer from SKF in Gothenburg,it’s back to the yard to run the outfit through the wash.

If a job’s worth doing…Believe it or not,this was around 3am!

Waiting to board the T-T Lines ferry at Trelleborg which will take us to Travemunde.

One of Olaf Perssons Scania’s from Karlshamn.

Coming off the ferry in Travemunde.

A stop at Damme Berge on the A1 in Germany to have my mugshot taken!

Next to one of the seven new trucks that came home just before the firm went pop!

TTS 723 was fitted with super single drive axle tyres which were being trialled for Volvo.

Another couple of Onsala Volvo’s in Gothenburg.

Typical 25m outfit seen in Sweden.

Overnight stop in Travemunde, waiting for a trailer to be shipped over.

BAG on the prowl in Travemunde.

Never any problem with traffic in Sweden.

Another new FH12.

Well,that’s all folks!

I would just like to say a big thank you to Craig for the pictures,Cheers mate!

Brilliant pics Keith, bought back a lot of memories! I never saw a new shape FH’s before, just out of interest did they have any XL’s or were they just the ‘normal’ Globetrotter? Obviously, id like to see more pics, as im sure others will. Cheers again, and cheers to Craig.

Good pics, i don’t remember the article though so Dreva, come on mate, what’s keeping you!

Where is Craig Sheer nowadays? I used to work with him at TRUCK magazine, boy do I miss that title, of course it should’ve been called LORRY, but still the best of all the mags, especially when the content was provided by Craig & I!

Dreva, on that note, Craig & I did an LDD between us, when Daf launched the CF I took one down to Spain & Craig did the return leg, it was in 2001 sometime, I lost my copy in the move to Canada, any chance you could scam, sorry scan that one too please

Great pics, and very interesting! Keep them coming mate!

Regards

Kev

I heard from Craig a couple of weeks ago,he is due to attend the official launch of the new FH in Alicante and will be driving some of them back to Gothenburg.
I’m hoping to bump into him somewhere along the way so I can get in one of the FH16 XL’s and handcuff myself to the wheel

newmercman agree 100% about Truck magazine it was the best. The Roadway magazine is really quite good now you have Peter Shakespear as editor and Craig Sheer.

i read tha article wen it was published

good piks !

they are some great pictures he took, its amazing how different other people can photo a subject and make it look so much better sometimes, if you can post some more keith that would be great

i saw an old onsala volvo in ukraine when i was there recently, sadly i didnt have the camera to hand, which really annoyed me cos i knew you and kindle would of liked to have seen it

If there was someone who allways had a camera to hand, it would be you Mat! Im really dissapointed with you, you will have to go to Ukraine again and find it. Oh, i think you are anyway, well done vern!!

Good pics! yeah i did remember this articles on mags in years ago.

KW, send him my regards when you speak to him next, I notice he used to be Craig 111 on this very site but has not been on for sometime, either that or he’s avoiding me!

He is maybe trying to disassociate himself from us as the RHA are paying his mortgage now :stuck_out_tongue:

The RHA do get a well deserved bad press from TruckNet
