Has anyone seen that B&Q FH globetrotter with all the bells and whistles on it? It runs around on the reg plate D1Y OO. It came past me down Windy a few weeks back doing about 70 .
Yeh its a special edition and its not limited something to with it not actually being a truck but a show vehicle cool eh?.

How the hell did they work that one !!
My Mag was taxed âprivate HGVâ and insured as a show vehicle but at test time they insisted that the limiter was working AND checked it with their little pda thing !!
The reasoning they gave me was that it was POSSIBLE for me to pull a loaded trailer !
Isnât that the truck they give to their star driver of the month?
I read it somewhere that if a driver gets x amount extra mpg and has no accidents he gets to drive it for a week or two.
Soft git.
Poofs.
Ken.
more like ar5e lickers

So you donât[/b] have accidents and return good mpg figures and they give you a glory-boy motor for a week? Is this a wind-up? I thought the idea of a professional driver was to not have accidents anyway and also drive sensibly, thus returning average mpg figures etc without question? What a bizarre way of working.
Surely if theyâre that intent of giving the driver a âpresentâ for him being able to take a trailer from A to B without writing anything off ( ) it would make much more sense to give the driver a monetary bonus of say ÂŁ100 instead?
If they gave me the glory-boy motor for being a good boy Iâd look at them strangely and ask what the significance of getting a higher spec vehicle was. Driving that about for a week isnât going to put me any more money in my account and nor is it going to do the job any quicker.
Iâm interested in the ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ not how many spot lights and horses itâs got .
as far as iâm aware all b&q haulage is contracted out to variouse firms around the country, could it be that this motor has been dressed up by the driver/ owner?

No.
Itâs been in the trade press Paul, and the story told above about itâs origins and use is correct.
point is, whoâs running the wagon?
Isnât B&Q all Exel/DHL these days?
donât know, excell have got the contract for the new place at worksop but i doubt that theyâd just use one haulier through the board or they could be held to ransom, the tail waging the dog. wouldâve thought more likely they hand out contracts on a regional basis.
I know that they used to use Muppet Road Show for their Scottish work from Doncaster.
Itâs been six years since I worked there, it might have changed.
Exel took over Tibbet and Britten and DHL have took over Exel, so itâs all DHL now, frightening! But, DHL do B+Q along with Kuene Nagel (whom i thought where mainly into shipping?).
Mike-C I think Kuehne & Nagel have always had a bit of a dabble in running trucks but maybe not always in their own name. Harry might know more as theyâre Swiss based and I think theyâve run a few over there for a while.
They bought what used to be Hays Distribution last year and seem to be going for it big time in the old âlogisticsâ world. Theyâve just done a deal with Scottish & Newcastle in a joint company to look after all S & Nâs distribution in the UK and calling it Drinksflow to compete with Tradeteam.
They were part of Tiny Rowlands Lonhro Group at one time, maybe still are - I remember there was a stink a good few years supposedly to do with arranging unauthorised arms shipments !!
Trade team are still part of DHL(exel?)? Thereâs a lot going on and fast just recently.
far as i know tradeteam are still exel. theyâve got a crap name in the pub trade - always â â â â â â â up deliveries and orders - it wouldnât suprise me if K&N dont nick work off them
All this âglobal logisticsâ crap you read and hear all the time makes me laugh, but K & N have been doing it for a long time and are very good at it. despite the dodgy guns thing, theyâve got a first rate name and have always been a serious player in the shipping world .
looks like they want to play with lorries now as well !!
Tradeteam are now dhl , all the new motors are that lovely yellow with tradeteam a dhl company written on them âŚ
There is no such thing as exel itâs gone , finished ,kaput .

Theyâre calling what used to be Exel âDHL Exel Supply Chainâ now.
