I forgot about that one. I’m pretty sure that Wincanton do one as well, just cant remember which. I rekon they have more RDC’s than stores, or not far off!

Ok lets get this from the horses mouth,

Cambuslang is ran by Keuhne and Nagel(SP) previously ran by ACR,

Preston Brook ran by DHL Supply chain (NOT Exel/DHL just DHL),

Trafferd Park is ran by Wincanton.

Doncaster is ran by Keuhne and Nagel (sp) previously ACR.

Worksop is ran by DHL Supply chain.

Grantham was ran by TNT but Wincanton took over a year ago it closes VERY soon.

Branston is ran by TNT but apparently Christian Salveson will be taking over soon.

Coventry Is ran by Wincanton.

Radlett is ran by DHL Supply chain.

Swindon is ran by Wincanton.

Chepstow is ran by Keuhne and Nagel.

There are a lot of outbases such as Derby, Barnsley and somewhere in the N.E. im not sure where.

B&Q and their subsiduaries are a fantastic company to work for, from what i can gather and from my previous expreriences they want a workforce of professional drivers who obey the law and do the job as well as they can, they pay excellent wages and dont want their drivers doing much more than 10/11 hours a day, I hope this helps answer a few questions.

The worst part about working for B&Q is waiting occasionaly for an empty trailer at some depots, sometimes we have to wait more than an hour, but its all working time but for £25K basic for 48 hours AVE(as if we do that many). its bloody good job, compared to some of the 84 hour guys in the country.

Jammy, would the DHL group in Worksop take on the new lads to the lorry driving?

Thanks

Mike

XL we had over 250 applications for 50 jobs so at a 5/1 basis and probably most of them experianced you could apply for it but i would think not !!! HOWEVER each case needs to be looked at on an individual basis so its probably worth a try.

I was once a new driver and i applied to Phil Hanley and got a job straight away, but even they seem to be one of the big boys now.

Who knows m8 if ti as me i would apply and then phone every day to ask about my job if they said no i would phone again and ask if they had cnaged their mind;).

If your looking for a straight answer then its NO,The company as a group is in a bad way and as of yesterday we have just given our 6 security guards their notice to be made redundant as of october.Take my advise stay clear of DHL/EXEL til everything is sorted with the takeover of exel. .As for tradeteam although we ain’t touching them they still are part of the DHL group and the new trl’s are slowly making an appearance, they have a couple of DHL double deckers in at Cambuslang.

It all depends on the contract really, I work for a company who spread their contracts, so they can pick the best and change them whenever they want , thats not to say the customer is so good and the contractor is any worse.

cool - the reason I ask really that DHL have the contract of the masterrcare depot in Newark - I have heard on the gipevine that they are trying to get 100 class 2 drivers in the coming weeks - my details was left on the day I did a run for them on the agengy but that was some 2-3 weeks ago with nothing.

Suppose I will try luck ANC on the interview next week who are keen to talk to me even though I got no class 1 experience behind me yet (They know about that).

Phil Haney is a tad too far for me to go at from Gainsborough to Bilsthorpe which is some 30 miles travel for me (I know that place as I used to work for Deans Foods at North Scarle and used to go the stinking egg processing place! )

Mastercare is a good job as long as you dont mind handballing, I worked there a while ago, the job is o.k. but some of the runs are a nightmare but then again you get some short 9 hour shifts too.

There is no such thing as exel it’s gone , finished ,kaput .

They’re calling what used to be Exel “DHL Exel Supply Chain” now.

I know , i,m a tradeteam primary night trunker … , and our yard has 11 new shiny 430 mans and 32 480 globetrotters to come , all paid for by tradeteam , the vehicles had already been ordered but with the takeover they were delayed to change the colour scheme . I trailer change at our own depots , a trailer full of beer for a trailer full of empty kegs or pallets , the occasional not so supermarket delivery with cans.

Vernon also puzzled me as to how K+N can tender for tradeteam retail contracts , it’s impossiple in some respects . Tradeteam retail 99% of the time deliver to pubs that coors own , tradeteam deliver for coors ( was bass ) . The brewery used to run the transport but to cut costs tendered it out to logistics companies which is where exel stepped in , BUT the brewery only sold 51% of the transport ,the other 49% is still brewery owned . Tradeteams “home” depot is in burton on trent in the coors grounds .
It’s impossible for K+N to tender buisness into pubs owned by coors because tradeteam gets it, the pub has no choice .
But what do i know thats retail , i,m primary i take kegs to the depots that take the little baby artics to pubs .
Hopefully it will mean we don’t deliver to S+N depots anymore , we get ■■■■■■ about for the simple fact we are a rival company .
In all honesty i can see DHL in the future wanting to get rid of tradeteam and look for a buyer , DHL can’t control it , the brewery with it’s 49% share and 100% of the buisness wants tradeteam trucks to only do brewery work .
DHL doesn’t really operate like that , rather than bring back empty kegs they would prefer another paid load .
I hope the brewery buys the transport back , i really do .

Those double stackers are crap , the straps keep working loose no matter how hard you pull them and clip them , you end up on the hard shoulder with hazard lights on doing them back up , the units were a disaster and have all been sent back and redelivered with new fifth wheel plates which has raised the trailer height and thus causing some concern with depots that have low bridges we could just get under , with the MANS we now can’t …Total disaster …

As i said the brewery retains a 49% inerest for 100% of it’s buisness and i hope they buy it back .
At the end of the day no matter what happens i won’t be out of a job , no beer being delivered means closing a multi million pound takeover brewery down .Simple case of a change of company .

the straps keep working loose no matter how hard you pull them and clip them , you end up on the hard shoulder with hazard lights on doing them back up

That will be because they are designed without the centre pole, pain in the arse as you say.Every time we go to a delivery/collection and lets say you only need half the curtain pulled open, once you got freight on/off you need to tighten all the straps up coz they slacken off.

the units were a disaster and have all been sent back

Im glad it wasn’t just us that sent trucks back for faults :open_mouth: When i got mine it was in the garage at MAN Bellshill more than it was out doing the job we got it for.It got to the point where we told them, new engine in the unit,or you give us a brand new unit :open_mouth: 10mins later it was we’ll put a new engine in it for you’s,but it will be off the road for a while( no ■■■■ sherlock) And our reply to them was ok now hire us a unit at your cost :open_mouth:  MAN has been a disaster from day 1,and i hope once they change fleets it ain’t MAN.
