Awkward Drivers

Arrived at a collection point this morning, forkie got me to follow him to where id’ be loaded. One of the firms trailers is in the way, so off pops the forkie to go get it shifted. 10 minutes later one of the firms drivers turns up in his unit & proceeds to take 30 minutes coupling up, fastening curtains & carrying out checks whilst myself & the forkie clearly wait for him to move. Then, after spending a further 10 minutes filling out paperwork, gets back out of the cab and starts cleaning already clean lights & reflectors with a rag. Knowing full well we are waiting (patiently).

I don’t begrudge the guy carrying out whatever checks he felt necessary (however ■■■■ they may be), but why be such a ■■■■■ Move the trailer out of the way and then do your checks rather than screwing with other peoples day :unamused:

Anyone else have any tales of pig headedness from our fellow drivers?

Oh Christ, you have started something now. …

Just for clarity, is the offending trailer in the way of what needs to be loaded (ie. restricting access to picking up pallets/goods etc…) or the loading area you need to be parked to be loaded.
If the latter could the forkie not have just moved you on a bit to get the job done ?

Did you not tell him to shift?

You don’t know how much of an A 55 covering exercise that driver might have to be covering. Give it a rest :unamused:

Did you actually read what he posted? Clearly it was one of the knobheads who are common in haulage who actively go out of their way to ■■■■ other people off.

yes I did and my reply is that the company ssow ie their HEALTH AND SAFTEY has to be adhered to … and that the driver MIGHT have come a cropper and is on a warning. so the ONLY action the driver can take is to cover his A 55 by doing everything by the book or he could be out on his ear .

Ita very rare I have the joys of visiting RDCs.

But the worst for me seems to be DHL.
It seems to breed awkward drivers in those rest rooms.

You can type ■■■ Nick, or arse, or botty, or bum.

If this was the case, [and I doubt it very much], surely he would have come over and mentioned it, instead of doing his best to get chinned ?

Far too many anti-social nomarks involved with this industry, its getting to the stage where I don`t tell the truth when anybody enquirers about my employment status anymore

Or it could be that his English is very poor. IE not his first language.[emoji15]

Very doubtful, this lady garden was a fully paid up member of the UK Awkward Squad :unamused:
99.9% of Non Engleeeesh speakers I`ve come across in this situation have been more than helpful :open_mouth:

maybe he was slipping in a 30 minute break?

Still should of said something [IMO]

I agree, it’s clear from the original post. Dodgy game to play, as not only does the haulage industry have a surfeit of abject tossers like him, who derive some kind of pleasure from ■■■■■■■ other people off and generally being awkward (such is the lack of any other satisfaction in their lives) but neither does it lack people who fall into the ‘firebrand’ category. He will be shown the error of his ways sooner or later and one way or the other.

Agreed…

Funny how quite a few of the DILLIGAF crowd fall into the “firebrand” category…just an observation :open_mouth:

You need to be involved in the non profit side of transport, the op describes a driver who I would rank as an absolute beginner in terms of awkwardness.
