Sorry but you are your own worst enemy and I can’t image anyone on this forum recommending you to a gig, as I can’t image they’d want you to work alongside them. Especially not if you fly off the handle at the slightest thing, which you’ve pretty much proved you do…

Right guys ,I heard off a lot of you about these big supermarket companies,Tales of woeful treatment,Disgraceful waiting rooms etc , and ott rules etc etc , But i tried it first hand .And well,Massive respect to you lads who put up with those [zb] awful people, horrendous rules etc etc .
That is not my cuppa tea at all,In fact i would say it is not for most .
Is that even legal discriminating against drivers in that manner and when did that start ,Or has it always been that bad ■■ ? Health and safety surely starts with the "Human driver’s welfare "? .

Here you go driver number blah ,sit on this junior school chair and wait 4 hours for 3 pallets to be tipped ,You cannot smoke or ■■■■ ,And the one sit on ■■■■■■ and [zb] on toilet is for you all …

Jeremy piles on ,and the remotes in the snotty receptionists bag .
Then some over worked forky says your slightly off bay "To get a break " Learnt this off 2 shunters last week and yesterday !!!
Over worked forky doing the job of 3 men …

I have the misfortune to visit my local RDCs on occasion and the way some drivers treat the desk clerk/forkie is appalling. Theres no wonder their default mode for dealing with us is with disdain. As far as facilities go, they’re in a state because us drivers don’t treat them with respect. I went to a brand new RDC and it’s facilities were fantastic, a couple of weeks later when I went back they were disgusting. Nobody but drivers were using them. As far as health and safety goes, all them rules have been put in place because they see a risk, and considering the pictures and videos on the www of truckers ■■■■■■■ up, they’re probably right!
You See, sometimes we’re our own worst enemy.

As far as the public are concerned, lorries are just an inconvenience. The fact that one is being held up is a good thing because that’s one less on the road. I doubt very much that they care of our plight, as long as they can buy their stuff.

What I would like to know (even though I no longer work I’m still interested in haulage and still have a HGV licence I think) is who pays for all the dead time waiting at these places? We were paid waiting time on construction jobs etc after one hour as long as we didn’t turn up too early so it didn’t bother us unduly, but who can the haulier claim money back from when he has a truck and driver sitting idle for several hours and (presumably these days?) on hourly pay? :confused:

Anyway, still agree with some of your points, I [zb] hate rdc.s, I don’t do them that often tbf, but I would hate to be in them regular.

I also would get bored being an A to B driver everyday, but somebody has to, and good luck to them, but not for me.
I prefer a job with a bit of variety, a challenge, and where I have to use initiative.
Why don’t you try and get something along those lines if you are ■■■■■■ with your present job. :bulb:

Being honest here ,There is a huge problem ,And drivers are to blame for letting this happen.i read countless shortage press articles ,The reasons are quite clearly, as stated above .

Ok mate, to be honest I’m a bit that way myself, (ok maybe not to your extent :smiley: as tbh you do come across as ‘‘All guns blazing looking for ag’’ )

I don’t put acts on towards people either if I don’t like someone I involuntarily make it obvious, always have, can’t help it. What you see is what you get with me, and I have zero time for absolute d.heads, (of which there are quite a few on here).
However there are also a lot of good lads on here, I have a couple of what I would call mates, strangely even though I have not met them face to face, but they are on my wavelength.

Some guys on here do give good advice mate, so all I would suggest is keep an open mind on most of them, instead of automatically thinking they are the said d/heads I mentioned.

I’d love to meet you in a pub and have a ■■■■ good (but friendly) argument with you. :smiley:

Call it diplomacy if you like, a tool to use to engineer the outcome you want…
Yes you have to deal with pond scum in doing our job, but choosing to be ‘blunt and honest’ is like cutting off your own leg and entering yourself in an arse kicking contest. You can’t actually win most times by ■■■■■■■ off the little Hitler in the security shed, the rude yard shunter, or the blank looking goods in ■■■■■■. They hold all the cards so you just see it for the game it is, and YOURSELF go into autopilot! So be cheerful, polite and looking to keep all lines of communication open. I think DVSA call it the ‘attitude test’ :wink:
