If that’s one of them who was in the car who they’re on about then is it possible he was trying to kill himself and others too? TNCSI thinking cap on I know but for him to be transferred to a mental health unit says to me somthing doesn’t add up right.

Could just be that the man is struggling to come to terms with what has happened.
That makes it sound like that guy who pulled up in the live lane of the M26, got out, and started walking along the hard shoulder, only for his car with wife still in it - get hit up the arse at top speed by a foreign artic… Car flies through the air, lands on guy on hard shoulder, wife survives… Hardly what one would expect at first sight from such an RTC there either.
We still don’t seem to know from any news source who was in what vehicle, or even the name and profession of the deceased - a week on by this point!

The one that died might be foreign, the police could be struggling to find a next on kin.

I’m thinking that suggests he isn’t a foreigner in the sense that you mean at least…
I thought he was a passenger in one of the artics, thrown into the road when his side of the cab disintergrated on impact with the central stone reservation wall…?
according to the Leicester Mercury…the dead man was Bhagwant Singh,39,who was in a car.a 33yo man also from Leicester has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.a 25yo man arrested for the same offence,has been transferred to the care of the Mental Health Service
