■■■■■■ hell that’s bad!

One person has died and a “number of people” are trapped in their vehicles after a crash on the M25 in Essex.

Several vehicles went through the central reservation and ended up on the opposite side of the motorway at about 01:50 GMT, police said.

The motorway has been closed in both directions following the “multiple collision” between junctions 26 and 27.

It will be closed for “some considerable time”, Essex Police confirmed.

Insp ■■■■ Thomas said: "At this time we have one confirmed fatality and a number of people who are trapped in their vehicles.

"There is debris across both sides of the M25 and the motorway will be closed for the foreseeable future, while we deal with this collision and begin our investigations to establish what has happened.

“If it is at all possible motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes. Nothing will be moving around this portion of the M25 for some considerable time, and the morning rush hour is likely to be affected.”

I thought those new concrete central reservation barriers were to stop accidents going from one carriageway to the next.

Doesn’t seem to have worked in this case by the look of it.

Looks like its in the section where its not been completed yet

Looks like concrete barrier to me. Nasty :astonished:

The barrier is designed to deflect the vehicle but a direct impact you would go through

Funny how the Highways Agency call us “customers”

Its not like we get a choice in who operates our roads.

It’s frightening to think I was on the M25 on my way to work at Waltham Cross at exactly that time. I take the junction just before this happened. I probably over took those lorries on the way. RIP

I’d just joined the clockwise M25 at J25 and of course had just passed the point of no return at J26 when I saw the gantries come up with all four lanes closed at once…

Was sitting there in something looking like “operation stack” on the M20 from 2am to 5am when vosa turned us all around 180 back to J26 onslip…

The deceased was a 39 year old guy from Leicester apparently. They didn’t say if it was a car driver or a transport driver. The langdons wagon seen in some of the pics was likely returning from Crick to Dover - as I’ve done that run, and it would be about there at that time of the morning…

The A120 accident where that car is seen shoved under the De Rijke wagon… She was initially reported “dead” but has now apparently survived, and is in Hospital.

This second picture of course, has an image months out of date. I’m scratching my head as to how such an accident can happen on what is now a clear 4 lane stretch both ways… :frowning:

Had this from someone earlier…
