Average hours per week?

Are you getting paid less than £450 gross for 60 hours mate?

Time for a new job fella.

Yes. £365 a week for 5 “full” days. There’s £25 a night, and a couple of other bonuses too. Generally I take home about £380 for around 60hrs a week.

I’m certainly not afraid of grafting but I would rather be rewarded for it.

Think you’re all right, time to start looking elsewhere.

My take home is a tad more for 45 hrs, move on dude

I’m sure it’s been asked before but I couldn’t find anything with my limited search ability!!

How many hours do you average per week? Not just driving hours, start to finish.

The reason I ask is that I’m currently averaging 60 a week. For the salary I’m on that puts me below national minimum wage.

You have made the classic driver error, you have become involved in for profit transport.

Own account is the only way to make proper money without living there.

Average 43 hours, can vary from 35 or so up to about 52 if i recall is the most i’ve done here.

Is this the joke of the day ?
That’s less than my flat 48 hr week no nights out or over time
My hourly rate is £8.50 class 2

A couple of weeks back I did 68 hours and still got £465 top line. That’s £6.83 an hour.

Still, every cloud and all that. This place got me a foot in the door and a fair bit of experience. It’s a shame really as I love the wagons and the guys I work with / for.

I love cheesecake.

Doesn’t mean it’s good for me though.

Deleted due to job change.

The industry average was 55hrs a week in a RHA survey done several years ago.

If you are on salary and what you get for the hours you work, EXCLUDING BREAKS, takes you below the NMW then its illegal.

Usually average 40 per week (class 2 dayshift) from leaving to getting back home (stay a 10 minute drive from depot), its steady enough all year round. Money is not too great but the hours suit ok and i’m happy enough with the job.

I certainly wouldn’t want to get into the type of scenario the opening poster describes! Would be looking for another job asap. The fact is most companies will do what they can get away with in regard to drivers, pay and hours.

Wow. I did 47.25hrs last week and took home £398. No night out money, no bonuses and there was a few quid taken off for my pension contribution.

You don’t pay much tax and nat ins then?

Rowley010:
When I was on days it was about 55, now I’m tramping it’s about 65 normally with it hitting 70 every few weeks. No chance I’d do that if I was on salary though! It’s only being paid by the hour that makes that amount worth it.

By the sounds of it your pretty much being exploited and need a new job!!

Agreed. If I was salaried then I would be playing the game very differently like some guys I work beside who never use POA and only take a 45 minute break then change to crossed hammers.

Current job is general haulage curtain sider work, take home with n/o 5-600 a Friday for 63-68 hours :unamused:
Unfortunately the pay in Nottingham is pretty crap all round however, I actually enjoy this job which is a surprise after being forced off a heavy haulage firm thanks to the faceless dvla medical team and the principle of not going back after they washed their hands of me.
I took this job as it was the only tramping job going and it suits me and the Mrs currently. I’d love to earn the same being home every night at a reasonable hour but the jobs around here just don’t seem to be around.
It’s a small firm ran for profit but it’s not all bad, after all tramping is what you make it! But I do think the wages paid should be better.

Bloody hell, reading this thread makes me realise that I landed on my feet! Take home around £500 for about 55 hours night trunking. Never tip on break. No hassle.
Decent jobs are out there.

its also surprising how many think 60+ hour weeks are an acceptable way to live/earn money.

I’d rather tramp then do nights for the same money personally, to each their own and that

That’s your standard night rate mate. All this chaps are doing days.

But I can bet ya, I’m lucky to get 20hours drive time aweek, and I start 5pm till 3am job and knock and over time if I go over my ■■■■, £12p/h.
I spent 80% of my time on POA in queues at fright terminals.

.

Averaged two drivers over last four weeks and it came out at 52.5, though there are times when it would be higher. Topline around £655.00 + nights out if not in a hotel + £5.00 untaxed per day lunch allowance, paid through breaks. Actual working and driving averages at around 26 hours per week through the year because we double man and have long ferry journeys.

OP, that is rubbish money, good luck with finding a new job.
