From what I’ve always heard, the late 60s/70s go to motors in Australia were mainly Kenworths and Macks, tough, straightforward and able to cope with the heat and the long distances. A lot of old hands still swear by the early KW cabovers and the Mack R-series. Compared to then, trucks now are obviously miles ahead for comfort, safety and fuel economy, but some would say they’ve lost a bit of character. Depends what era you grew up in I suppose..

And White, International, Reo, Diamond T, Volvo, Scania, MAN, Mercedes. They were eclectic times with a lot of Pommie stuff still about and the Japanese trucks emerging.

I didn’t know they’d gone global.

Ginger Beer? It was only rum that I remember, the staple of George, my first mentor at Buntine’s. Or did I dream that?

I have never noticed it for sale anywhere, but looking on line it is available in the UK through some big supermarket sites. I will have to look harder on the shelves next time.

“Back in the day” ginger beer shandies could be served in pubs; ginger beer and draught bitter.
I don’t mean the 90’s more like the 40’s and 50’s.
Surprisingly (maybe) quite nice!

A dream I reckon, I can’t imagine any truckie going to town on Bundy.:rofl:

Definitely worth a try, the soft and hard stuff.

Isn’t there Bunderberg Rum then? That’s all I remember, not ginger beer.

Yes Spardo, I was being facetious.

Careful… Mentioning “hard stuff” and “ginger beer” in the UK can be a problem.

A bit stronger. I have tried it with whisky.
No, not a good whisky, although I would be pushed to tell good’un from a bad’un.
