Having spoken to an Egyptian agent, the costs for transiting Egypt are far too expensive. This is without the cutoms duty fees as Egypt is not in the TIR convention, and without the extra ferry across the Red Sea to either Aqaba of Jeddah. It would have been good to have found an alternative, but currently Egypt isn`t it!
We are going back to running the convoy through Syria having been told that it now has full military ■■■■■■ and the borders are now open again

Scanned some more of my fathers pics. Sorry to break modern day middle-east driving discussion.
Cracking photos Lenny .
Jeff The Flying Foden posted this great photo sometime ago but I think that it’s always worth another look.
Phil Bunch took this one sometime in the seventies when he was working for Thor Transport from Stoke, it looks to me that it was taken going over Tahir in the summer although your Dads photo looks like it could of been taken slightly higher up.
Would you happen to have any photos of FINNWHEELS in your collection or do you remember them .

Don’t have any Finnwheels photos but I know some drivers who drove for them. There was also Vaano and I think Polar Express did some middle-east loads.
Hi Lenny, regarding the Ninth photo that you posted on the last page with the three drivers in front of the Scania. The one on the right with the red beard looks very like ■■■■ Snow off Astran’s.Do you know if that is who it is ? or is he a Finnish Driver?
Regards Jamie.
