At least Bin Laden didn’t have the pain and the horrendous experience of having to go through Heathrow Airports
Terminal 3.
Being thrown into the sea from a Hercules C130 at 3,000 feet to meet twelve virgins sounds like the Z.B. got off lightly
Yes Malc it’s about time that somebody got Mugabe he is another murdering Z.B.

Hi John, 92 Hours Venice -Alexandria, 8 Hours Suez - Jeddah, there is also a Catamaran service that does the crossing in 3 Hours, takes 15 trucks, cost unknown at this time.
Dave.
■■■■■■ Hell you’ll be more Merchant Seaman than Lorry Driver Dave!!
I’ll bet its dear too, I seem to remember 1 from Venice to Istanbul running for a spell, I’ve still not got over the price of the last Patras - Ancona boat I got & its nearly four years since…
Long gone are the days of doing a round trip to Athens/Istanbul on a grand.
How you keeping anyway??

I have done it with Land Cruiser from Aqaba to Nuweiba, we took the catamaran but there was a “normal” ship for trucks. Only problem is Egypt bureaucracy, I talked with the local truckers Nuweiba and they said a weeks waiting is normal to get through customs.

Hi John, keeping really well.
Ancona to Patras costs between £700-£1000 depending on what day you ship.
I have heard that The Alexandria boat costs £1800, but this is not confirmed yet, Suez to Jeddah no information yet.
Just a thought if it is possible to transit this way, and The Egyptians don’t charge too much, will we see round tripping making a comeback?.
Dave.
Dave, i know tht you know your stuff, but if there is a boat from alexandria to jeddah, why is graham driving across egypt to port saiid, to catch another boat to jeddah, is there a timetable say once a week or something? No disrespect meant.jees this is going to change the job somewhat, interesting , but no doubt more expensive.
Richmond, Port Said is on the north end of the canal, Suez is on the south side & that is where the ferry leaves from.
The shortest route across from Alexandria is via Cairo, the road by passes Cairo to the north.
Dave.

Good to hear your doing OK Dave. Glad I’m not on that Greek job no more it must be costing 4k plus to do a round trip FFS. I’m sure the old Egyptians will load you home in tatty season

Thanks, i got it now, ! rather interesting challange isnt it, still curious of prices and to compare with the boat to jordan?Trouble with jordan i guess is they will still get you 400 quid for transit tax.
This is all looking very interesting. New routes, ferries to and from North Africa, transiting across Egypt then ferries onto the M/E!!
Just a thought but would it be up to the O/D to cost out the run going this way and submit a price to Astran or would Astran say the price for the job is still £XXXXXX and what way you go is up to you??
If the route via Syria / Jordan or Iran is not workable and the North Africa plus ferries is, then surely it would be in their interest to work with the O/D`s to make it happen!!
What ever happens it will prove very intersting!!
Anyway, CARRYFAST, come on son, speak up, what did your reasearch uncover!!

All very hit and miss from all of you lets all find a solution ,no good getting half of it I will spend some time on this as I have nothing better to do now my Veg is in the garden, look out for my findings how to get there for a few peanuts, might even do a trip myself

Roger
Having spoken to an Egyptian agent, the costs for transiting Egypt are far too expensive. This is without the cutoms duty fees as Egypt is not in the TIR convention, and without the extra ferry across the Red Sea to either Aqaba of Jeddah. It would have been good to have found an alternative, but currently Egypt isn`t it!
We are going back to running the convoy through Syria having been told that it now has full military ■■■■■■ and the borders are now open again

And that is the reason Astran Cargo Services are at the top of the tree
If you want to go East, follow Astran, If you want to do Italy follow McKellar. Well it worked for me…
Apparently there had been a communication mix up when Osama Bin Laden reached the Pearly Gates and was met by 12 Vegans, but on a serious note I fear it will only be a short time before Al Qieda strike again as all the yanks have done is cut off one of their many heads. Anyway who takes the Bin out on a bank holiday.
Disapointed kev !I had me factor 40 out, had bought a map of egypt , found me sandals,…
Scanned some more of my fathers pics. Sorry to break modern day middle-east driving discussion.
