i didnt know the man but knew of the truck and what he did. From a fairly reputable source, he still has the Volvo in a shed! What a piece of history, it should be donated to the transport museam.
Nobody has come up with an answer to which border this is yetâŚthere, Iâve given you a clue

Hereâs another of Mike Sargentâs photosâŚa definite write off I would reckon but I was trying to work out what make of vehicle it is (or once was). Perhaps an MAN or even a FIAT. What do you think??![]()
Yet another brilliant set of photos Ron
, can you thank Mike for sharing them with all of us
.
What interested me about this one was who did the trailer belong to and how often did they go to India.
Regards Steve.Mike seems to recall it was a UK firm from âup northâ. You knowâŚwhere men are men and the beer has a frothy head on it. And they have to put all the exotic place names down the side of the trailer (Iâve been everywhere man syndrome).

Well Jamie, without giving too much away, it is an old border with âMâ being the first letter. Photo taken circa 1974 and youâre in the right part of the world.

Gavin
Hi Gavin
Yes a nicer guy you could not have met I have some fond memories of Running with Pat ,as you are far away would you like me to add your name on the tributes at the funeral.
Roger Haywood
Hi Roger, would you do me a favour and add my name as well although I only met Pat a few times he always epitomised the true British M/E driver to me with his approach to the job and as someone who you could rely on to assist you if he could.
thanks Charlie.

Hullo Roger,
As you shall be going to Patâs funeral and I am far away in New Zealand, could you please add my name to the tributes. I should be grateful.
Cheers, Archie.

I see that Pat was still smoking the â â â â right to the end, eh? I well remember him and I both on the âOld Holbornâ back in the mid 70âs.
Mike Sargent informs me that he did a stint on Simons at the same time that Mike and myself were on for Jeffrey and he drove one of the Marathons. Can anyone else confirm thisâŚmy memory fails me sometimes!

I knew Frank long before his Middle Easy days, we became friends when he worked for Sea Route Ferry out of Heywood in the 70âs, I remember one Saturday morning he rolled one of their Scania 110âs and tilt trailer on the infamous Chilworth roundabout as you left Southampton to head north.
RIP FRank

No that canât be right Franks not all that old, just go and have a check bazza and see if heâs not sleeping it off underneath the snooker table in The Wardle Con Club, it wouldnât be the first time that you could find him there. Rocky 7 will find out for sure as he lived with Frank at one time.
No I donât believe this, not Brandon.
