"As as professional driver....."

Sounds all very familiar, my rule tends to be if your nice and polite I will bend over backwards to help you out, if your rude and ignorant I still will but with a bit more ‘attitude’. If however your insulting or try and be clever infront of fellow office colleagues I will ask you to come outside the gate and carry on the discussion there.

The amount of times i’ve been beaten up by office staff is getting quite embarrassing now.

Apparently “as a professional driver you’ll go where I send you” as told me by one of our transport clerks whose going way above their station…
So I thought you want to go down the professional driver route do you
My reply was “as a professional driver then I’m feeling tired and I’ll go home then”, love a bit of bluff calling at this hour 'cause they haven’t got enough drivers for the work

As a professional driver surely you should not come to work feeling tired? That is your problem and not the companies. We are governed by laws that prevent us from working too many hours but for a driver to come to work and say he is too tired to work then that is a completely unprofessional thing to do.
If I was your boss I would sack you and employ someone with a decent attitude that comes to work fit for work.
Standards and attitudes are attrocious these days from some.

So you’re saying it’s you’re fault you’re tired, wouldn’t be anything to do with the fact they’ve stuck you on a silly o’clock start then planned you to do x amount of 15, xamount of 13,s ,then threatened you when you’ve said you’re knackered and won’t be in until 5 in the morning, refused you’re request of having a week or two of sensible starts times, threatened you with this that and everything when you refuse o/t, :unamused: :unamused:

I think perhaps you missed the point. He wasn’t tired he wanted out of doing the load

These lads on nights at tesco don’t know how easy they have got it, should come on days for a bit and see where the real work is done

We are governed by laws that prevent us from working too many hours

apart from when youre planned daily rest is 9 hours agreed....once youre out the gate
the laws are laughable…84 hours…not too many…yeah right

As the OP is working fir Tesco he is hardly been pushed to breaking point.

Hi guys
As said we get paid by work to take X to Y as I do shops I can start from 1.30am to 14.00 sometimes 2 drops or sometimes 5 but that’s what the job is,if some drivers don’t want to do it then stop moaning,I’m sure we would all want a easy local run everyday but based nr Wolverhampton can either get sent 5 miles down the road or 200 to Dorchester and Plymouth.some shops are easy and some can only be done in a rigid which you can only get back out by folding the mirrors in coz you drive down the back of people’s houses up a dirt track.

Had to endure one taking my safety seriously en route to Gloucester this morning, on the
second load down Waitrose decide to do the same. Drive gave me a shake of the head as I came by on the short dc near Andoversford pushing 60 (MAN engine brake sounds nice squeeling her head off!). On the way back this afternoon I get a dawdling sunshine coach acting like a traffic cop, checking my speed to 45ish. Sorry but I’m not waving to window lickers when my time’s running out, the chief window licker in the driving seat’s playing Plod
and I’ve got half a tonne of topsoil to shovel out when I get back.
If you think I’m a bad man, check your phone has a signal and ring someone who gives a ■■■■.

what i want to know is,

since when has the OP considered himself a ‘professional’ driver? :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

the only things he seems to be professional at is changing jobs and smashing wing mirrors off

The whole speed check thing makes my ■■■■ itch. If you want to be a copper ■■■■■■■ take the train and join up. Otherwise I’ll drive how I want.

Seems we agree there.

Juddian:
We don’t pick and choose where we go.

Office say go there, i’m paid to go there, its my job to go there, its their job to send me there, so i go there…whats the problem.

Exactly. Don’t get all this ‘Im not doing that’ attitude. Whatever they ask me to legally do I’ll do. Some of it I won’t like and some I will, like any job. But because I never moan and do what I’m told I usually get good work. Because that’s how it works.

For the record, if it wasn’t for isotrack and fleetboard I’d be more than happy to do 50 on a single

You turned in for work so was fit to work you was given a job so get the ■■■■ job done. Dont like be planned on x amount of 15 hour or x amount of 13 hr shift or only want to do certain drops then either go find another firm to drive for or go work in an office. Only time should really turn a job down is because you will run out of hours

Does Islowtrak restrict you to 36mph? Morrisons restrict themselves on the M5 to 45.

No but you might squeeze another 15 quid a week out of the firm.

While on agency I got sent to a company, their name starts with an S and ends in impson Brothers, .

You’ll have to give me more to go on than that  , I’m thinking Stobarts

I was given a set of keys and a scrap of paper with 2 words on, sittingbourne & alconbury, and a number. when I asked what the job was I was told I should be able to work it out! I just folded the scrap paper up neatly and flicked it at him, said goodnight and walked out.

Nice one,

The only difference between you and most of the other drivers on this thread is you say it too the planners face whilst they say it under there breath as they walk out the door

Speak for yourself, but I for one will say when something aint right, but I dont refuse any job that I can legaly do.

The attitude off the OP is one reason why our emloyers love our east european freinds :unamused:
