Army truck bump

There is a slight difference between a Eddie Stobart driver and a Squaddie. One is a hero in uniform facing mortal danger every day the other just travels to foreign countries meets interesting people and kills them and tries not to get himself killed in the process. All of our forces personnel deserve a bit of respect for volunteering to protect Queen and country, so either give them a bit of praise or don’t comment. If anybody thinks we don’t need to fight terrorism they are in cloud cuckoo land.

This is as naive and idealistic as the tree huggers though. There might be a percentage that genuinely believe but a load more will be there because of the money and no better job opportunities elsewhere and there will be a load as well that want to play Rambo/Call of duty for real.

unless you have served you will know mist of these ‘types’ don’t make it through the training. I have mates serving who yes knew what they signed up for and have no issue with that, one is in his 20th year and earns far less than he would in civvy street (airplane tech), so no I don’t agree.

happysack:
[zb] sake. You pricks can have an argument about army wagons and still bring Stobart into it. Get a [zb] grip.

They’re both green. I don’t think thats a co incidence ?

True. Never thought of that.

…er I assume you are speaking from personal, first-hand experience? because I don’t recognise the picture you are painting.

del trotter:
Try reading his post properly, joining the Army is a career choice no conscription nowadays, and as for defending this country and freedom of speech complete ■■■■■■■■, when did some afghan peasants ever pose a threat to you?

er… when they picked up a gun, supported and started training terrorists from the UK and other countries to attack the UK? …when they started spreading the ideology of hate and violence towards ‘The West’? …or do you need more specific examples?

Another forces thick [zb] that can’t drive for [zb]. :unamused:

Yeah like those thick [zb] driving 20 hours a day for 3-4 days at a time, off road with no KFC services, and the small matter of IED’s and getting shot at… all at 18 yr old,
Tell you what my old son , given the choice between you, with your attitude, and them, I know who I would want to work with :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Well said Rikki

Great to hear today about the VC awarded to a para. Pretty sad that some on here embarrass themselves by ridiculing the armed forces. And yes,i have served in the British Army before we hear from any armchair heroes.

No-one forcing them to go get themselves involved in other people’s wars. :unamused: :bulb:

what an unenviable attitude you have towards our armed forces.
nobody forced my grandfather to get involved in poland/germanys war in 1939.luckily for you lots of other people got involved without being forced also.

Second that, it’s a good job our brave forces do volunteer to fight these terrorists. Or would the tree huggers prefer Islamic state running our country, where for example you can be summarily executed in the street for wearing the wrong coloured clothing as in a recent video doing the rounds on facebook.

So conscription never happened then?

don’t think that is the point being made, people wanted to serve their country as in the past there was a sense of pride and loyalty. not a load of people who wont serve you in uniform or look down on you as some thick ■■■■■

I for one am glad we have one of the best trained forces in the world who put their lives on the line to protect us.

if you don’t agree fair enough, that your opinion but don’t slate people who serve.

Ahhh memories of “convoy ■■■■”

AEC knockers could ■■■■ yourself to death at 30 mph and no-one could see you

yes of course it bloody did.do you think all the 18-35 year olds that didnt volunteer should have said no thanks its not for me? what would YOU have done in 1940 when this country was fighting for its life?
considering the alternative outcome of the battle of britain(this country was on its knees after the evacuation at dunkirk, only the royal navy and raf really stood between us and germany due to the fact that most of our equipment was abandoned at dunkirk-64,000 vehicles and heavy guns!!!)
the outcome for british 18-35 yr olds would not have been good following a succesful german invasion-any men of fighting age would either have been killed or shipped to germany to work as slave labour.same as happened in holland belgium etc

Agree, greatest of respect to that guy, however what about this character?

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-31625353

Respect is earned, the danger with praising everyone just because they wear a uniform is that they are not all equal.

Same with everything. There’s good and bad. I know a lot of ex forces people and they are great. But I have also encountered some bona fide Bell ends.

Left hand down you just sound like a complete ■■■■■ Show a bit of respect for the uniform.
